Beautiful vocals...and very underestimated. This has genius lyrics...starting out with a haunted intro:

"Gypsy, sitting looking pretty,
A broken rose and laughing eyes..."

Mariah has always been a beautiful singer...though she could have used stronger vocals here...she whispers on too many tracks...and this one wasn't necessary for...

Holy smokes! I totally would love to disagree with the guy who said Mariah "belts it out" in this song. Where? She whispers through the entire first two verses and chorus. Then, she gives a few high notes during the climatic ending. This song along with CB was such a let down. For lyrics that warranted a lot of emotion, the whisper did not help at all. I would have...

Mariah has always been a beautiful singer...though she could have used stronger vocals here...she whispers on too many tracks...and this one wasn't necessary for whispering. This should have been a belt out ballad...similar to 1993's Music Box "Without You".

However...its her best song on Charmbracelet. Did I mention that Charmbracelet is some of her best work to date?

5.0 out of 5 stars Please people!, December 21, 2005
This review is from: Bringin on the Heartbreak (Audio CD)
I must confess that I didn't hear the original version, but...why can't all these people see the song for what it is? It's a REMAKE and it is, in a certain way, a way to admire an artist or song. Nobody is trying to compare Mariah and Def Leppard. But, as a admire of Mariah's work I think this is a great song and deserves more attention. Mariah has an incredible voice- in my opinion- the greatest voice in the world. And all these people running their mouth about this version are just jelous that she could make the song reach more popularity. And I would DIE to see the face of this stupid criature that said ''Mariah is finished!''.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gypsy... sittin' lookin' pretty..., March 4, 2004
"Bringin' On The Heartbreak", is my fave of all Mariah's songs. When I bought her album "Charmbracelet", I knew it was the standout all throughout the album, almost the last track and it's filthy great. The song is so mysterious and haunting with a very interesting video in which she plays a gypsy and fits her well. It is a revival, and it's even better than the original. I don't have the single but have heard all the tracks in the single and fell in love with it. Not a big fan of Carey, but this song tells my personality... gypsy... gypsy... the song rocks!!! get it!

I am lucky to have a promotional released version of this song, reaching almost 12 minutes in length it is stunning, and never leaves you expecting anything less, but it delivers more. This mix is a difficult one to obtain, but it is floating around, with a monsterous feeling as if Almighty Records, teamed with Hex Hextor. EXCELLENT

So Mariah Carey has done it again on this new and very good come back track besides "Through The Rain". It really shows her true strength of the songs that she should sing. This single I got was an import here. Anyways, the mainstream edit is very good compared to the original. It sounds livier. I just love this song. She sung it with not so much screaming this time round like she used to on some of her previous singles. For me perhaps she thought she just had enough of screaming. Way to go MARIAH! If you don't like her at least give this single a listen to and you'll see why people like it and her!

5.0 out of 5 stars this version is MUCH better than the horrid original, October 29, 2005

ok, these people running their mouth about this version are probably those strict rock music lovers that like trashing everything else. mariah carey has the greatest voice in the world, and her remake of brinin on the heartbreak is flawless. i have heard the original and it makes me wanna puke. this is clearly one of mariah's best remakes, and one of my favorite songs by her. look online for a live performance of this song on a mtv UK show, and you will see what good vocals are. not that 'cat being squeezed' sound that def leopard makes while singing this song: that is not emotion, that is bad voice.

Then, she gives a few high notes during the climatic ending. This song along with CB was such a let down. For lyrics that warranted a lot of emotion, the whisper did not help at all. I would have loved to hear Emancipation of Mimi vocals with CB lyrics. *sigh* But, that will never be. This song had so much potential and was just a complete let down. Thank goodness Mariah moved on from the mess she created with her whispering.

4.0 out of 5 stars Michael J. Brister Needs His Head Examined, November 19, 2005

Yes, it is a remake; and is that a crime? It's still a great song & FYI the original was on Def Leppard's "High N Dry" album, NOT "Pyromania".

Jay Halliwell, you suck because the original version of BOTH is awesome and is much better than this one. Jeremy Whitman & Michael J Brister you suck becase this version is a great interpretation of the song, BTW Michael, the original version was on "High N Dry", not "Pyromania".

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Bringin on the Heartbreak (Audio CD)
Bringin' On The Heartbreak is good, but there are SEVERAL remixes of this song if you look on Kazaa or the various DC++ sharing Hubs. Some include:

Acoustic Mix
Deep Influence Mix
Global Soul mix
Junior Vasquez (2nd beat mix) + (extended mix)
Tony Moran Mix

Miss You: is an excellent track. I got it off the net. I added it to my Charmbracelet CD when I made it and put it as the first track because it's fast and fun. I hate how the regular track listing opens with the SLOW song: Through The Rain. Hope I helped!
