Book Description

April 8, 2002
A wee one is found, softly whimpering, on a small patch of dirt in the heart of southern Vietnam. At the orphanage, they discover her name and birthdate scrawled on her arm. Although her physical deformity is glaringly obtrusive, her eyes reveal a wise soul full of desperation and a longing for acceptance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Focusing on Cleft palate and Vietnam Adoption, March 28, 2006
This review is from: Bringing Our Angel Home (Paperback)
Bringing Our Angel Home by Tracy Pillow is the first hand, detailed story of the Pillow family's adoption of a two year old Vietnamese girl, Gracie Minh. Minh is an adorable, good natured little girl who was born with cleft lip and severe cleft palate. When Minh was almost two years old, Pillow was captivated by her photograph in the waiting children section of HI Families, the Holt adoption agency's magazine. Bringing our Angel Home proceeds from the time the Pillows start their homestudy and ends with their return home with Minh and the initiation of her cleft repair surgeries. As the Families with Children from Vietnam director and parent of a child with special needs I found this to be an interesting personal story and hope you will also.

3.0 out of 5 stars An inside look at adopting from Vietnam, July 6, 2005
By
This review is from: Bringing Our Angel Home (Paperback)
Tracy Pillow does a pretty good job of involving the reader in each step of their adoption... from first seeing their child in an adoption magazine to traveling to Vietnam, to returning home and the surgeries their daughter needed for her cleft palate. My biggest complaint about this book is the extensive, seemingly random use of italics. Sometimes half a sentence, sometimes a full sentence, sometimes an entire paragraph will be italicized and it really interferes with the flow of the narrative. (Kind of like reading a book that has already been highlighted). But I would recommend this book for anyone interested in adopting from Vietnam and/or adopting a child with cleft lip/palate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bringing Our Angel Home, January 3, 2007
This review is from: Bringing Our Angel Home (Paperback)
This was a wonderful book. It was both informative and emotionally touching. I would recommend this book to anyone considering international adoption, especially from Vietnam.
