Frightmare `Bringing back the Bloodshed'

Beginning with the infamous Vestron Video introduction Frightmare enthusiastically prove that their hearts are on their sleeves. It doesn't take much imagination to work out where the band sit in the Death Metal pantheon but sonically the band give birth to an amalgam of 80's thrash influences fused to the up to the minute Death\Grind tactics of today to create a demented monstrosity that can best be summarised in their own words as `Stalk and Slash Grind'.

Exhuming the oft used corpses of classic 80's Slasher flicks for lyrical inspiration the band eschew the formula of bands like Mortician that briefly summarise the horrific highlights, the 5-8 minute epic's that Frightmare serve up give you the complete story replete with blast beats and solo's. Subjects dissected range from Friday the 13th Part 2 to Last House on Dead End street (and these are amongst the best tracks on an album which is all killer, no filler) and as a special bonus a crushing version of Laaz Rockit's `Leatherface' which forced me to drag out my battered DVD copy of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 for yet another viewing. The band displays a great deal of maturity between this release and their debut and injects a huge slab of individuality and personality into the proceedings. For those looking for something different to the usual US Death Metal take on things should make this mandatory listening.
