Book Description

April 1, 2012

Bringing the Cloud Down to Earth approaches cloud, or SaaS, applications from the business—not the techie—side. Much differentiates this book from others on the topic. Most importantly, like all PlanningShop books, it is written in clear, compelling language with real-world advice and insight.

This book helps growing businesses save money, significantly improve and simplify their business operations, and make informed choices on business applications. It covers everything from how to choose cloud applications and calculate potential return-on-investment, how to ensure security and privacy, how to train teams, how to take advantage of analytics, and much, much more.

Bringing the Cloud Down to Earth cuts through the haze around the cloud, providing step-by-step guidance on creating a cloud, or SaaS, strategy and choosing cloud appplications.

Outstanding tour of cloud computing. Obviously an expert on the topic, Ms. Abrams offers an introduction to cloud computing that de-mystifies the technology and clarifies its many uses. Whether you're responsible for the corporate data strategy of a Fortune 50 company or just want your personal financial information more secure and readily accessible, this book is a "must read." I loved everything about it, from the real-world examples to the "workbook" approach Ms. Abrams takes to evaluating your own application(s) for cloud computing. I've been in the information technology industry for over 20 years, and wish we'd had this good an introduction to each successive wave of innovative technology. In fact, even sophisticated cloud application developers would do well to read this to better understand what their users consider important and to better design their systems to meet those expectations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect! March 21, 2012
This book definitely helped me to understand how I can better use the cloud. I personally enjoyed it's simplicity, which made it easy to understand, and I have a good idea now of how I can use the cloud for business as a result. I highly recommend this book to all entrepreneurs/business owners who are looking to better understand how the cloud can be used!
