1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible, August 1, 2009

This is perhaps the worst live performace ever recorded by a metal band.
Where to start - I guess the first thing that sticks out to me is the poor sound of the band live. While on recorded CDs they are amazing and have some great songs, when performed live, it lacks any cohesion. The vocals - from either singer, sound bad. The live mix is muddled too.
The worst part for me, however, is the show. The song selection was lacking and it appears they performed before a crowd that was there to see someone else. The club, which may have 100 people at the show max, aren't into any of the songs and just appear to be waiting for some other band.

The extras are lame as well. The biography of the band is nothing more than text - no video talking about the band's history.

I own almost 100 metal DVDs and this is by-far the worst. Purchase at your own risk!

3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD SHOW, POOR DVD, July 22, 2011

The band is great and the performance is intense, but that is all this dvd has going for it.

Picture :the filming of the 50' gig at the Stodola Club in Warsaw is good but the mastering of the picture is too compressed, and in spite of peaking at an OK 7,7 Mbps it pixelates like crazy due probably to its having been shot in a very high definition (noticeable from the extreme sharpness) and having been crammed into a DVD5 with excesive and unnecessary extras like interviews, recording sessions, bio, audio tracks and the like. It is a bit like Vader's second dvd, only not THAT bad.

Sound : this was the worst part for me. I can live with imperfect picture if the sound makes up for it, but on the 2.0 mix only one guitarrist (the one on the left channel) could be heard and there was little bottom end. When switching to 5,1 the bottom end was so boomy it buried everything else, and the SAME guitar migrated to the right channel. I had to compromise and switch the sound to mono to get a more even guitar soundscape and crank the sub a little. Aware of this fact, the people who edited the footage made the silent guitarrist dissappear from the screen after the second-third song. What a pity. The vocalists sound harsh and brittle causing quick ear fatigue at realistic volume levels, as if they were using cheap mikes.

Don't take me wrong, I will watch this dvd again for 2 main reasons : it's the only Catamenia dvd release and I got it for free. Get a free copy or buy it from a bargain bin. Hopefully there will be a good one in a not-so-distant future.
