5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Start-up Blueprint, November 1, 2008
This review is from: Bringing Home the Baking: How to Start a Licensed Home-based Baking Business (Paperback)
I wish I'd found this book months ago while doing my business plan. It would have saved me sooooo much time with research. My business plan is about 95% completed, but even with the hours of research I've already put in, there was still a lot of information in this book I did not know. I found out how to get a website for $2000 less than I thought it would cost me. My estimate for a website is now only $55 a month and that's it. I hadn't heard about organizations that "nurture" small businesses until they get on there feet. And, there is even information on how to set the price for your products. This part just by itself was a major help for me. I had no idea of how to go about doing that. Especially with factoring in the cost of utilities.

I was at a lost of what to do next in order to finish my business plan. And then I happened upon this book. This book really helped me considerably.

A good book, but it isn't applicable in California where the Health Deparment will not allow anyone to sell food prepared in a home kitchen. In fact, many schools in the Los Angeles county are no longer permitted to sell homemade items at bake sales.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book., February 6, 2009
This review is from: Bringing Home the Baking: How to Start a Licensed Home-based Baking Business (Paperback)
This is a very informative book about the ins and outs the author learned about starting her own business. It is info any aspiring bake-shop owner could use. Each individual MUST find out their own state laws, regulations, codes, health dept. expectations on their own. No one author could do a write up on all 50 states, especially when those laws change annually. So you must do some of your own leg work.

A very easy read with a lot of information packed in.
