10 of 10 people found the following review helpful By peter krampert on February 24, 2002
Format: Audio CD
Toots Thielemans is the grand master of the Jazz harmonica. Stephane Grappelli is the grand master of Jazz violin. Together they've dominated their respective instruments for over half a century and now the two finally get an oppurtunity to play with one another.
Both players shine on this CD. Sometimes it's Grappelli who shows Thielemans a thing or two. Sometimes it's Toots that get in the last word. Overall, this recording is a joy to listen to.
Hardcore Jazz fans who dismiss either the violin or the harmonica as serious Jazz instruments should listen to this album.

The word GENIUS is often subjected to ill=concieved use. In the case of Toots...any other word would be an understatement! Toots has all the essentials to be so labled. HEART...IMAGINATION...SWING...POWER...NUANCE. TOOTS IS ALL OF THESE. He makes composers proud to say, THEY WROTE THE TUNE! The guy can make one, jump for joy...or cry unashamedly. I guess I can say I'd rather listen to Toots...than anyone! I'm gassed to just attest to his mastery of the art of....JAZZ jazzdon13......Donny Cerminara
