Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Too many business books are sophisticated in technical understanding of entrepreneurship but skim over or ignore the moral complexity of starting and growing an enterprise. In a similar way, books on the moral and spiritual life are naïve when it comes to the difficulties and pressures of running a business. Bringing Your Business to Life integrates business practice and theory, drawing upon a rich virtue tradition from Scripture and Western philosophy combined with case studies of entrepreneurs who reveal their struggles to remain faithful to the virtue precepts within their businesses. You will be inspired and motivated to take your faith to work as you think about how to apply the principles, practices and portraits presented in these pages.    Bringing Your Business to Life explores the fact that oftentimes much more than a fresh approach and a good business plan are needed to strengthen the opportunities for success within an entrepreneurial business environment. The more that young entrepreneurs can learn to embrace a balanced work-life ratio, while incorporating virtue and holistic thinking into their business model, the better chance their small businesses will stand to succeed. Mike Curb, Founder, Curb Records

This is one of the first books I have come across to tackle the space between who we are as entrepreneurs and who we are as humans. This is an excellent reminder for anyone pursuing his own business that along with cultivating a sound company it is equally important to cultivate a sound life, spirit, and family.

It is refreshing to read a book that has foundations in something that matters - mainly virtues. The book is based on virtues that will help guide the entrepreneur. Its a quick read, but I think everyone needs to stop and consider why they got into the business. I highly recommend the book.

In my over 80 years working with organizations, this is the best book I have ever read on bringing insight and depth to leadership. By rooting decisions in the four cardinal virtues and explaining how they might work and the influence they can have at both the personal and organizational level it moves the dialogue and practice around servant leadership and servant institutions to a much deeper level. I can't recommend it highly enough.

My frustration comes from not being able to order more then one book at a time. My goal was to have several copies that I could give away to friends and colleagues over the next month. Each time I placed an order the Amazon site limited me to one book, I finally had to go to the author to find a publisher/book distributor where I could order multiple copies. Recently I came across another book Leading With Soul which I also feel is a valuable resource. Again I was frustrated by the Amazon site limiting me to one copy for each order. There may be a good reason why you do this but it will lose my purchasing where I want multiple copies to use in a study group or to give them away to friends and clients.
