So each light has three .5 watt LED bulbs (= 1.5 watts, NOT 3.5w as stated in the description, I think they meant 3 [space] .5w bulbs) which is equivalent in brightness to somewhere around a 10w incandescent bulb. That being said they are very nice accent lights. I have them positioned as uplights on our fence, down lighting on a fountain, and as spot lights on some trees. You can use up to 15 lights per 20watt transformer (per the directions). I didn't read the description very well when I ordered and thought they came with the traditional landscape wire you bury and just plug into wherever you want to place a light. These actually come with an "easy" connection system which is basically a light with five feet of cord on each side (male connector on one side/female on the other) so once you plug them all together- there is a max of ten feet in between lights. They definitely have a very white/blue cast and I don't know how they would look if you mixed them with the yellow tinted normal low voltage landscape lights. So far I have three sets of these in the backyard and they look very modern and clean. The light is not "warm" but it is bright enough for our purposes.

Lights are considerably brighter than I would have expected from only 1.5 watts per light. Light color is pure white, not warm incandescent white. Wiring is exposed between the base of the light housing and the flange at the top of the spike, making it vulnerable to a weed-whacker if placed at the edge of a lawn. Would not be a problem if used in a garden. Overall, very pleased with the illumination.

These lights are brighter than what I had predicted...just what I needed to place alongside the front of my house. Each spotlight contains 3 (my estimation - 24 lumens) white led. They are easy to install without modification to the pre-wired 10-foot cable, extending the six lights to about 70 feet from the transformer. As long as all lights are installed in a single strum, starting at the transformer, the cables are just fine.

However, in my case, the installation required that the lights be connected going in two different directions...or left and right from the transformer. Also, because I'm using these lights for security (they are that bright), I wanted to install the transformer in a more secure area inside the house.

Here's my solution: I cut the wire about four inches from the transformer and also cut the input connector from one of the lights (left about three inches of wire on the connector and saved it just in case I needed later on). I set all the lights in position and ran the wire underground alongside the house. I then removed an electrical outlet from inside the home and drilled a hole from the inside wall to the outside. I then ran the wire that I had cut from the transformer and the wire from the light I had previously cut through the hole. Using two win nuts, I connected the two sets of wires straight to the transformer (make sure the polarity is correct or the lights won't work). I reinstalled the electrical outlet, making sure the two win nuts splicing the wires to the transformer were behind it and out of site, then installed the wall plate making sure it wasn't so tight as to pinch the wire from the transformer, and then connected the transformer to the wall outlet. Now, the wall outlet was next to a window, this is important to make sure the light sensor, which is attached with a three feet of wire to the transformer, can turn the lights off during the day.

Pease note: Cutting the wire may void the warranty of the transformer or the light you may choose to cut the connector from. But, at least in my case, it was worth it. Also, if you decide to go this route, make sure to connect all the lights and transformer first before cutting the wires. You don't want to cut the wires and then find out that either the light, transformer or both are defective.

12/09/11 Just bought another set of these light to light one side of the house that's unusually dark. I placed the lights facing the window of our master bedroom; this way we can see if anyone is trying to peep through the windows. These lights are an economical way to provide security around the house when the lights are properly placed.

Lights work well, but I do not want to place them so close together, so I cut the wires and put new connectors on to connect with my existing low voltage lines. Also, there is no way to lock the light in one position. Very frustrating when the dog or other animal bumps one and now it's no longer pointed up.

I've have three sets of these on my property. The light given off is a bluish white. That may or may not appeal to some people. Besides, who wants to have their house looking like everyone elses on the block with halogen lighting? I get mostly favorable comments from my neighbors on the look.

My three sets have been through two very harsh winters, and have survived for the most part without any damage . . . apart from running the snowblower into one that was buried in the snow. I did have one LED fail in one fixture. With 18 fixtures (3 LEDS each) providing light, one LED being out isn't even noticeable.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with these. I'm glad I stocked up on more of these when I caught a sale two years ago.

Well made, easy to install. The lights are very bright and do the job. The problem I had was the entire string was not long enough to go the width of our house. So I bought a second set. Now with 12 total lights the house will look better. What they need is an option to add an extension between the lights, say 15'. The set is nice as LED costs so little to run and no bulbs to replace. I loved the first set so much I bought another!

The title says it all. It's much brighter than my the other solar powered spotlight - that was 0.35W but this is 1.5W each. The difference is huge. Since it's LED so I don't really care about the power usage, as long as the wiring set up is OK. It comes with a light sensor and works very well. Very happy with it and I just purchased another set with 2 additional lights to extend it.

The lights work fine since I installed them on an existing low-voltage landscaping transformer in my yard. The transformer is horrible which I did read about on here previously. I plugged-in the transformer in my garage to test out the lights before I installed them; the second time I plugged it in, I heard a very faint buzzing sound, and then the transformer stopped working -- It's in the trash but at least the lights work fine.

Brinkmann has has found an ideal price-performance point. Brinkman's lights are somewhat dimmer than the "other" brand but they cost 1/3 as much to purchase. So far, I have bought three sets.

I was surprised that the "transformer" is actually a switching power supply. That makes it small and efficient. The transformer has a photosensor to turn the lights on at dusk, off at dawn. The sensor is on a several foot long cable so it can be positioned to detect ambient light. I found the location was not important.

Unlike the "other" brand of lights where you splice the lights along a cord wherever you wish, the Brinkmann comes with 5 foot cables pre-attached to each light fixture. You plug the lights to each other with a small pre-attached rainproof connector. That allows the lights to spaced at 10' intervals. If you need longer intervals, you must ignore the directions and splice more wire. Pay attention to polarity!

The lights are surprisingly bright and have have a high color temperature. This high color temperature, though odd-looking at first, makes the LEDs more efficient.

You can't beat the initial AND running costs of these garden lights.

These are the best low voltage lights for the outdoors. They light up very bight unlike the solar lights. You get your money back in the electric you save just in two months. I have three sets and I get compliments all the time.
