I bought these steps for two Springer Spaniels who are getting a little old. They seem to hold up fine under the weight of dogs their size. I like the fact that there's no assembly, that the cover comes off for washing, that they're lightweight, and that they have a little handle on the back. On top of all that, the price is right. Most of the other pet steps I found on the internet were more expensive and got poor reviews.

Look, if you don't think of your dogs as family, then just skip this product review. Of course, if you're pondering buying steps for a dog, then you are likely a dog lover, anyway, so that may be a needless warning.

What's the warning? I write this review with a bias. Big one. I admit it.

My dogs are beloved. Not spoiled, but I may be pushing the edge of the envelope there. I'm very picky about all things Dog. Which is how I came to buy these stairs.

Having already lost one canine friend to old age and liver cancer, I'm all too aware these days that my pups are getting older. The grey on the oldest one's snout makes me sad: not that he cares, it just means one more treat for him whenever I notice the ever-increasing grey and white fur.

However, couple of months ago, I really starting thinking about the baby pup. She makes a heroic effort every evening to jump up on the bed, but with her little legs it's quite the feat. I realize that as she gets older, this is going to become a problem. I've also been wondering how good it was now, for her to jump up as high as she is long. It's very impressive, but probably not too good for those hip joints and things. Then, I noticed she was taking a bit of time before that jump - evaluating it. Something she never used to do. Was it painful for her to leap? Was she feeling stiff?

So, I hit the web to research the best way to help her out. Stairs vs. ramp. Decided to start out with stairs. Next question: what size of stairs, what number of stairs. Carpeted? Wooden? Foldable?

After lots more time than I'd like to admit, I decided on the Brinkmann Pet Deluxe Pet Steps - 3 Step. It was a great decision.

So I have a great chocolate lab who has arthritis, and so I have been meaning to get her stairs to make it easier for her to get on and off the bed. This product is rated for 200 lbs so I bought it. What I like about is it is light, plush, has a removable cover, and is compact. What I don't like about it, is for a dog about her size or bigger (about 75 pounds), it needs to be wider and the stair tread depth needs to be deeper. My dog was able to use this after an hour of training (but my dog is ridiculously smart :)). However, because of what I said it is not easy for her. Also I have a relatively high bed, so the steps only go up to the bottom of the mattress which I thought before ordering would be alright, since the last step could technically be the mattress, but this is part of what she is struggling with. Eventually I will buy a bigger one if she continues to have problems, but for now she can use it if she goes slow and is careful, and it is taking a huge amount of pressure off her back legs, now that she no longer has to jump up and off the bed. If you have a small dog or an old cat, I would say you can't go wrong, but I can't say I personally recommend this, unless price is a huge factor in making your decision. This is an update. I have a very high bed so I have the stairs flipped so they reach higher. Using the stairs this way is why the depth of the treads appears to not be adequate to support her going up and down easily. However, unless you have a very low bed or a couch (and have the steps positioned as pictured) this still is not an adequate height for the dog to get up on a bed (as I said I had it flipped and it still only reached the bottom of my mattress). Additionally, the width is still about 6 inches too narrow for a dog of her size or larger too comfortably use.Read more ›

I purchased this product to help my elderly cat get up onto my bed. It is a replacement for the "Doggie Steps" I was using. I was looking for something taller than the Doggie Steps which are only 12" high. This product is perfect - exactly what I was looking for! The Brinkmann Deluxe Pet Steps is 16" tall. It is lightweight and easy to move if needed elsewhere. There was no assembly and I received the product within a week of ordering it. It is made of very densely packed corrugated cardboard yet is very strong. Much stronger and sturdier than the Doggie Steps I was using. The information that came with the product states it will hold up to 200 lbs! I highly recommend this product for cats or dogs. I am already telling my friends about it and how much I like it. I am very happy with my purchase.

I purchased this item for my beagle. She had trouble jumping onto the bed. She walks right up these stairs with no trouble. She weighs about 35 lbs. The steps are pretty stable and we use them for the bed and the couch. They are so lightweight that it's easy to take them back and forth. The price was great compared to some of the smaller steps that I looked at. Great product!!
