Tots will always want to bang and hammer--so why not give them a pegged table and mallet specially made to suit? The Knock-Out Bench's 9.75-by-3.25-inch tabletop is pierced by eight half-inch-diameter holes. Plastic cylinders (each approximately 2.25 inches long) fit snugly in the holes. The red-handled mallet has a green rubber head that's perfect for pounding those cylinders into the tabletop. When the job is done and all cylinders pounded down, then it's time to flip the reversible table over (onto its other set of wooden legs) and knock the cylinders down again. Kids will build hand-eye coordination, motor ability, and muscle strength while they work out. The table and mallet handle are made of beechwood; the toy is made in Sweden. --Ava Natov

Maybe our son is too young to enjoy this toy, (he's not yet 2) but he has banged it once or twice with vigor, though not quite hitting the nail on the head. In any case, it requires a lot of power to really drive those pegs into the board. This is good and bad. The pegs don't get lost, but that's because it takes a strong kid to whack 'em all the way through. Very durable and well made, though kinda small sized.
