This review is from: BRIO Sampo (Toy)
When this toy arrived, we were pleasantly surprised that the construction looks well made, the paint job is carefully done, and the size is about double the size we thought it would be. For an infant, this will be excellent for her ease is seeing the subtle changes in the dog with various touches that cause the movement. It is also a toy she will grow into over the years and be the quality she should want to keep for the next generations. Well made!

Well, it's a puppet. Puppets are only of value to a child who actually uses their imagination, gets up from the boob tube and PLAYS! I had a half dozen (or so) of these as a child, and they entertained me for hours. The ones I had (made by Brio) some 40 years ago are still intact, so unless you intentionally cut the strings, you can trust the Brio name for durability. Brio's the company that makes the old "Thomas the Tank"-like wooden trains, and I also have those that date back some 40-50 years.
Basically, this is a great item for children who enjoy imaginative play. Get several different ones, and the set will have great play value with the movement created by these little guys. Kids are amused and interested in the mechanics of these toys, and they've entertained kids for generations before Nintendo appeared! I gave 4 stars for fun, because these little toys have to compete with more sophisticated toys for your kids' attention, and the simple sweet toys can be ignored in favor of an Xbox! If you buy one to watch it collapse and then correct itself, well then, you would tire of it quickly. But for me, they make me smile and remember my own childhood...
