My boys have always enjoyed Brio Train toys, especially the battery-operated locomotives. The only drawback was changing out the battery, which we seemed to do constantly. This unit is rechargeable and allows for much more enjoyment. A very worthwhile purchase.

This is a good train, although you can buy it MUCH cheaper elsewhere - flexible wheel bases mean it can handle sloped track despite its length. Put up with my 18month old driving it around without damage so it is nice and durable too. Not the most aesthetically pleasing train, but it can pull lots of carriages (relatively slow pace). Compatible with Lillabo tracks (iKea) as well as Nuchi and Thomas.
If you do buy it - go to the manufacturer site. First quarter of 2010 price was only ten dollars direct from the manufacturer.

Doesn't stay on track,

This train is great because it is strong (pulls about 3 or 4 cars), battery lasts a good amount of time, it's rechargeable, and my son enjoys playing with it. However, it does not stay on the tracks. We must set the train tracks up so that it has wide turns. The train often falls off the tracks even with the wide turns. But overall, it performs well carrying lots of cargo!
