4.0 out of 5 stars Noisy for adults, great for the kids!
The kids love this accessory to their wooden train track. I was not aware just how loud it was when I purchased it, and may not have bought it if I had known. However, the kids absolutely love it, which makes up for the ear-ache it gives everyone else! And I know that the kids will play with it for years to come, unlike other more expensive toys. 3.0 out of 5 stars nice, but oh so loud
My son got this a year ago for his 2nd birthday. At first he loved the noises it made when the trains went through the tunnel. After the novelty wore off, he told us HE thought it was too loud(IT IS), so we took the batteries out of it. He enjoys playing with it, but it is tricky to incorporate into the track design because it is pretty wide (actual track is several...

An ideal present to give your friends' kids, just to see the annoying reaction on the parents' faces when they hear the noise.

On the design-side, it looks great, but would have benefited from the "walkway" on the top of the tunnel being the right height to have allowed ascending and descending take to be laid on it, i.e. like a bridge. It is about 5mm too low for this, which frustrates the kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good addition to your Brio collection., February 21, 2001

My only complaint about this item is that some other brands of trains get stuck in this tunnel and also those trains didn't trigger the noises (ie, activate the magnetic strip) unless they were pulling another car. I would still buy it, though, my 4 yr old boy loves the noises. However, also note this is the noisiest of the Brio train noise makers and can interfere with your hearing tv if it's in the same room.

He enjoys playing with it, but it is tricky to incorporate into the track design because it is pretty wide (actual track is several inches from edge of table). For the money, I would purchase something that is more versatile. We do love our BRIO, though!

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice addition to your Brio railway, January 11, 2003

This tunnel generates one of four sounds when the train passes through or the button on the top is pressed. The sounds are well made. They include an owl sound, train and mine sounds and so forth. I think the playback volume is just right.
A nice touch is the steps made on one side of the mountain as well as the small bridge on the top. These features creates a roleplay area for your child to explore with the small Brio men and women you can get in some of the other Brio sets.

My son really likes this train tunnel. And the sounds are not too loud and annoying for Mom and Dad! ;-) The "Thomas" tunnel has track going over the top the other way which would have been a nice thing on this one but it is very nice. They show "kids" playing on the mountain on the box but they don't include any with it! They should have at least thrown in one.

My daughter got this for her birthday and she loves it. She has a battery operated train and loves when the train or one she is pushing goes through the tunnel and the noise that comes out of the tunnel.

The Toy is predicatable Brio sturdy and is very solid. Educational value - makes my daughter laugh which makes my day.

Our trains come out only at Christmas, so they are a BIG DEAL for about a month, with little boys' constant play.

We got this tunnel for Christmas -- 4 or 5 years ago. We have not had to change batteries yet -- it is loud and has "spooky" sounds -- mining, a hooting owl, a chugging train, a honking train horn. It's very fun and it won't break, even under the onslaught of the most determined two-year-old.

This is a great little tunnel addition to any wooden train set. The sounds are cute although there is no volume control. It came really fast too. I wanted it for Christmas and the projected arrival time was January, but I got it in about 5-7 days to an APO military address. My boys are really happy with it as am I.

5.0 out of 5 stars The highlight of our train table, January 1, 2002

My 2 year old was given a Brio train set and table
from Santa this year and this mountain is the highlight
of the setup. It is heavy and durable as someone mentioned,
but it also creates an auditory environment for the kids
while they play. The mountain makes noises when trains
pass through it (owl hooting, clanking from men working, a choo
choo whistle noise) and the purpose of our train table has been to see the trains go through the mountain and up the hill on the other side (add a hill too, you'll be glad you did).

This accessory was money well spent for....Santa. If your kids
like train noises, you might also want to consider the battery
run Brio red engine = it has headlights and also makes a real
"choo choo" noise when pushed. My 2 year old has that one as well and he often insists we take it everywhere.
