5.0 out of 5 stars Brita 2-Quart Space Saver Pitcher
Works great; there really isn't anything that can go wrong with it, like the faucet attach filters. It is much better for my dorm room's refridgerator than the 3 quart pitcher, because of the smaller size.

This might be piling on, but we have an obligation to the community: this pitcher is junk. The lid will not stay on. Never mind trying to pour with it, just carrying it to the refrigerator without the lid falling off is a challenge. It should go without saying that Brita should be able to filter water. Never mind trying to pour with it, just carrying it to the refrigerator without the lid falling off is a challenge. It should go without saying that Brita should be able to filter water. That's what the company does. The water is great. It will save us a bunch of money. It's the right thing to do for the environment. But come on, Brita. You're based in Oakland, CA. Get some of those smart people from Cal or Stanford to work on your design or QA or something. Manufacturing somewhere that you lost track of?

Made a video to show what I mean.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great filtering- TERRIBLE pitcher, September 12, 2006

Well, the water's terrific -- but no matter how many times we try to asemble, reassemble and figure out the architecture of the pitcher, the thing leaks when you pour -- and leaks a lot. So it's essentially useless. I wonder what rocket scientist designed such a device. Maybe they can get a job at NASA.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hate the spout!, November 27, 2006

This Brita pitcher leaves much to be desired. I never write these reviews, but just had to for this one. Yes, the filtration system leaves the water tasting great, BUT....
1. It leaks a little.
2. There is often a little bit of charcoal residue in the bottom of the pitcher AFTER soaking for 15 minutes and rinsing any visible residue off and fitting into the space very securely.
3. I hate the spout.!!! About a quarter of the time I go to pour myself a glass of water, the spout stays shut and water goes all over the counter or floor in front of the fridge, or wherever I am pouring water into something.

I wont' be buying this brand again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great gift for that special someone you just can't stand and wish were dead., May 3, 2010
This review is from: Brita 42364 SpaceSaver Pitcher (Kitchen)
DO NOT BUY THIS WATER PITCHER. As the other reviews stated, no matter how I try the lid falls off while pouring, making a huge mess. Just what I need before going to bed and pouring a glass of water. Who is the design challenged boob that came up with this thing? And why is Brita Co. selling this pitcher when it is so obviously flawed? Is it really that hard to design a water pitcher that pours water? My guess is that somehow this pitcher went into production before quality testing and now Brita needs to get rid of them. They should do the right thing and take it off the shelves. Total waste of money. This is a great pitcher to give someone as a practical joke, or to someone you wish ill. Also, I find that most Brita filters leave charcoal swimming in the water. And yes, I soak them for 15-20 minutes and rinse them well before installing into pitcher. Never had much luck with Brita pitchers or filters, but this one is by far the worst design ever conceived.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent quality product..., August 20, 2005

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Brita 42364 SpaceSaver Pitcher (Kitchen)
All right, so the pitcher that the filter comes with, is literally a $1 store special--very very cheap plastic prone to leaking, BUT, the filter seems to work great and will make your water drinkable. One caveat, when your filter starts to get full, and you pour water, it'll likely leak a bit, which is super annoying (goes back to the cheap pitcher). So you can avoid this by not filling it to the brim.

Another reviewer mentioned bits of charcoal in the water, I have not had this problem at all. This could be because he did not soak his filter for 15 minutes in water before first time use. Or it could be because he got a bad filter.

The things has saved me a ton of money on bottled water, so I'd recommend it for anyone in NYC who doesn't trust the sometimes brown flowing water. But if you're used to your tap water, you might just want to save the money and the hassle.

3.0 out of 5 stars Product Okay; Betters Specs Needed, January 25, 2007
This review is from: Brita 42364 SpaceSaver Pitcher (Kitchen)
This pitcher is well-designed, and tucks into the fridge nicely. The water taste is somewhat improved. I find the top is too easily dislodged, but this is a minor annoyance.

The worst feature of this product is that the specifications for what impurities, exactly, the filter removes, seem to be unavailable. Vague promises in the accompanying product literature casually group various contaminants together with the promise that the filter removes ninety-something per cent of these. It seems unlikely to me that it does equally well for all the contaminants listed; in my opinion, this type of average statistic is largely useless. I'd like to know, for example, what percentage of chlorine should be removed. My filter does not seem to remove chlorine particularly well.

One might think that this type of information would be available on the manufacturer's web page. I tried to find specs there. There are pages and pages of graphics-rich irrelevant material that one must wade through. Then, finally, when one gets to the description of the product, there are no specifications on that page, and no link to a specs page.
Eventually, almost by accident, I discovered the FAQs page, hidden behind the customer support page. As best I could determine, it offered only the same vague promises listed above.

Works as advertised.
WE have to fill it often, but only because the water tastes so good, we are drinking more.
Great product for the money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great water, flawed pitcher, October 18, 2008
By
This review is from: Brita 42364 SpaceSaver Pitcher (Kitchen)
I have to agree with most of the other reviews. The water is clear & tastes right but the pitcher is a disaster. Once we had a bad filter that left the charcoal residue, but if we soak the filter in cold water for 10 mins then run cold water through it for a few seconds before installing it, the water is excellent. However...the pitcher could not be more flawed. The lid, despite all attempts refuses to stay seated on the pitcher. When pouring, the lid usually falls off or pops loose causing massive leakage & annoyance. The most ridiculous design feature though is at the top of the handle, inside the water reservoir...there's a hole where the handle attaches to the pitcher. SO, if the pitcher is A) over-filled or B) Not over-filled, but slightly jostled (such as the movement induced by returning the recently filled pitcher to the refrigerator) the water will go through the hole, down the handle and leak everywhere. There's a funky plastic piece inside the handle which keeps it from leaking all at once. That way you don't necessarily notice the handle is full of water immediately and your refrigerator is full of spilled water the next time you open it. My husband is not very conscious of this fact so I keep an empty cereal bowl in the refrigerator on the shelf below the water pitcher to catch all of the water that leaks down the handle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great tasting Water, January 25, 2004

This is a very convenient item, especially if you have well water and are bothered by funny tastes and/or smells in your water. This is excellent for filtering water to drink or to cook with, and for coffee and/or tea. Another reviewer did not recommend, but it seems they used hot water (never, ever do this - cold only!), and be sure you have fitted the filter properly. For people who live with unpleasant water, this is a godsend.
