4.0 out of 5 stars Works great, much faster than reverse osmosis system
I've been using the Brita faucet mount for 2 years now. Our water is VERY hard, with sulfur smells and rust, and the Brita works as well as our reverse osmosis unit, which has three in-line filters. Plus, it doesn't slow down like the reverse osmosis unit does when using lots of water (family gatherings, etc). It is NOT as fast as normal tap water, so don't go thinking...

For well over 10 years I have used Brita, up until 1 year ago. Sadly I can no longer recommend Brita.

Brita once has silver particles in their filters to kill pathogens. No more. But the pathetic FDA can likely be blamed for that.

The real problem with Brita and most other water filters is that they do not remove or even reduce the amount of...

It is NOT as fast as normal tap water, so don't go thinking you'll get tap-water speed out of such an intense filter. I have to replace the filter approximately every 2-3 months, depending on usage. Very handy when the r/o unit starts running out of water. I tend to use both the r/o and the Brita when filling a pot for boiling, etc just to make it go faster. I've used both the PUR and Brita, Brita works better on our water, although, for best taste, I also run it through a pitcher filter (as I said, our water is BAD). Tastes better than spring water!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good filters, great price -- but the light sometimes stops working, March 20, 2006

This filter is much easier to use than some other faucet-mount models. Installing the filter system is relatively easy, and replacing filters is even easier. Amazon's price (for filter system as well as replacement filters) is the lowest I could find online or retail, especially when I get "super saver" free shipping. The only problem with my filter system is the green "filter-is-in-use-and-is-working" indicator light occaisionally stops lighting up for a few days at a time, but then works fine again. I'm not sure whether or not this means that the red "time-to-change-filter" light comes on later than it should. But so far it hasn't bothered me enough to call customer service...

I have been using the Brita Filter for a number of years. It makes the water drinkable from the faucet. I also use it for making tea or coffee. Prior to buying the Filter I had to buy water now I just use water from the filtered faucet. Very good to have.

We live in a rural area and the water often develops some combination of cloudiness, odor and flavor. We do not want to drink tap water with any of those features.

We have tried the other brands of faucet mounted filters. While none of them, including the Brita, are perfect, we do like the Brita the best. The replacement filters are easy to install and last a comparable amount of time to those of their competitors that we have tried.

We make heavy use of filtered water: drinking, coffee pot, water for tea, etc. adds up to about five gallons a day. Combined with the less than cleanest water to begin with, we change filters more frequently than many - but the advertised 100 gallon mark seems about right.

Do check Amazon's prices for these filters. They change very, very often. Sometimes the two pack is the better deal, sometimes two of the one pack is cheaper. I start checking a few weeks before we're about to run out so I can get lower prices - and the difference can be significant.

We previously used PUR filters on our kitchen faucet but their effectiveness declined more and more so we decided to switch to Brita. We are very satisfied with Brita. The filtered water tastes about the same but the Brita lasts longer, is cheaper and easier to replace on the faucet.

I love the faucet mount filter system by brita and the replacement filters are great. I have had no trouble with them at all and the amount of money they save me from having to buy bottled water is well more then the cost of them. I have well water and yes it is better than city water it still has things in it that can make it taste bad but with this filter the water from the tap taste better than most bottled water and my son loves to drink it now..it also helps me when I am cooking and need to use water to be sure it is safe and pure..try it for your self you will see it is greathttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000657T5/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title

4.0 out of 5 stars Well Water and Brita Filter, May 22, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Brita 42401 On-Tap Replacement Filter, 1-Pack (Tools & Hardware)
Our water comes from a well, so we do not have the issues associated with city tap water (chlorine taste, etc.). Before reaching our sinks, the water passes through two paper filter systems and an ultra violet light system. Still, the taste of the water varies by season (assuming due to run off) and at times contains sediment that makes the water cloudy or off color. The water from the kitchen sink where the Brita Filter is installed almost always runs clear now and the taste is pretty consistent.

This is the second Brita filter we have owned. We wore out the first one. The filter delivers sparkling clean water. It automatically signals when it is time to order a new filter and when it needs to be replaced. It also provides a handy spray nozzle that we didn't have before.

I had a problem with one and Brita replaced it with no problem. Definitely a great product.

We've been using Brita tap filters for a few years now. As I exercise daily, I consume a lot of water, and the Brita filter helps with the taste of our tap. We have to replace them about once every 3-4 months.

For well over 10 years I have used Brita, up until 1 year ago. Sadly I can no longer recommend Brita.

Brita once has silver particles in their filters to kill pathogens. No more. But the pathetic FDA can likely be blamed for that.

The real problem with Brita and most other water filters is that they do not remove or even reduce the amount of fluoride in the water at all. As more and more American communities are being informed of the realities of Fluoride in our water, they are removing it from their water supply. Until your community stops putting fluoride in the water, your family is being poisoned by one of the most dangerous chemicals known to man, and the Brita leaves it all in the water. I now use one of the only filters that truly purifies, not filters, the water. I won't name it in order to remain objective in my review. Perhaps a google search can help you.

So you thought fluoride helps your teeth? Think again. Do some research! It's a deadly toxic poison IN THE FORM that's in your water! Sorry Brita, yes you have the best taste I have ever found, but unless you get rid of the one real poison in our water, I have to use something that will give me non-toxic water.
