Review - Just Got It,
By jeff (New York, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Brita 42622 On Tap Filtration System, White/Chrome (Tools & Hardware)
I just bought this yesterday and so far no complaints. I actually paid more because I got mine at Bed,Bath & Beyond and it included a pitcher which definitely was not worth the extra ten dollars but with their discounts and a store credit it was worth it. Plus if I hate it in 2 weeks I'll bring it right back to the store - they take back anything. So installation was a breeze. Water flow is ok considering it is going through the filter. No leaks. Non filtered spray is good too. The only complaint is that I cant use one of those flexible spray attachments so the position of the spray is fixed. I am curious if I will agree with the other reviews after a few weeks that say "no" to this product. I promise to come back (end of June) and write an update
Update: June 22 (Purchased 6/6) So far I have not experienced any problems and I'm pretty happy with it. My only concern is if this filter will last at least 3 months making it more cost effective than bottled water. Update: Sep. 11 Ok, so I recently replaced the filter. The red light had not gone but I figured it might have accidentally got reset. I live alone and it lasted about 3 months - maybe I could have kept it on a little longer though after putting on a new filter you realize how much the water flow diminishes over the life of the filter. I guess this can be expected as the filter does its job and fills up with junk. I do like it better than using the filter-pitchers and I will continue using it. This will be my last update as I feel my review was prettry comprehensive. Update: Just replaced, Dec. 31st. The red light came on indicating I had about 20 gallons left but filtration was slow. It lasted me (1 person) 3 and a half months this time. I think bigger under sink filters are probaby better but this one does the job if you rent and dont want to mess with the plumbing.

Delicious, wonderful water but DOES NOT LAST!,
By
This review is from: Brita 42622 On Tap Filtration System, White/Chrome (Tools & Hardware)
I was THRILLED with this product... for about two months. It does a wonderful job delivering clean water and is well-designed and easy to use. HOWEVER... like the other reviewer stated... it breaks down very fast. LEAKING begins at the joints where the plastic parts develop cracking and after that forget it! IMPOSSIBLE to fix. We tried an old-fashioned hardware store and they had no advice either. We had already bought 2 large packages of filters from a BJs Warehouse store and the first box outlasted the darn filter system.... so we bought ANOTHER filter system and it TOO broke down in a few months after normal usage. If the joints had been made with metal, perhaps the product would last. Instead, like everything else, the PLASTIC wears down far too soon. I, like so many other consumers, am SICK TO DEATH of buying expensive junk that breaks down almost as soon as you buy it. I would have been willing to pay more for metal parts-- that would last-- instead of having to throw both of these into the garbage in less than 10 months. Too bad, as it did a great job filtering the water. BUILT IN OBSOLESCENCE!! We consumers are sick of it! Thank you to all for adding your own reviews so we can all share the truth about these products and help others avoid this kind of costly mistake. I will stay away from Brita in the future because of this one bad experience. I hope the manufacturers wise up and read these reviews as well.

Save Yourself Aggravation!,
By Cleo Squire "Kristie" (Alexandria, VA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Brita 42622 On Tap Filtration System, White/Chrome (Tools & Hardware)
When Step 2 of the product direction booklet reads: If the (faucet) adapter does not fit, call Britta Consumer Services at 1-800-24-BRITA (U.S.) or 1-800-387-6940 (Canada), it's obvious the manufacturer knows there's a problem with the adapters included in the kit. They're very cheaply made plastic that are much too short to support the weight of the filter. Unfortunately, the unwitting consumer spends time and gets soaked trying to make the thing work- after all, they wouldn't include totally useless adapters...or would they? Calling the Consumer Services number gets you a very nice real person who happily sends you much higher quality adapters that work immediately. The nice person's response when I asked why Brita doesn't simply include these adapters with the kit in the first place: "I honestly don't know!". My advice is to call Consumer Services (number above) when you order the filter- then you'll only have to wait another week or so after your filter arrives to receive adapters that work. You'll save yourself the aggravation- and the accompanying shower- you'll likely endure trying to make the thing work with the adapters Brita supplies in the kit.
