Important Information

Directions
Your water filter pitcher can be ready for use in just a few steps. Wash your hands before touching the water filter, then soak it upright for 15 minutes in cold water. Rinse under running tap water and insert the filter into the reservoir, lining up the groove in the filter with the notch in the reservoir. Add cold tap water. The first three pitchers of filtered water may contain carbon dust and can be used on plants or discarded. The filter indicator reminds you to replace the water filter every 40 gallons or 2 months.

I purchased this exact model/color from a Big Box locally. I've owned several Brita's and generally love them. I'm "pro-Brita," if you will.

But this particular unit is just poorly manufactured. The filter won't remained seated in its hole. Water passes around it, unfiltered, into the Filtered area. Sometimes the filter pops out when you tilt the pitcher to pour.

I know how to install a Brita filter. It's a friction-fit, for crying out loud, and we've all done it a zillion times. If it's not seating, it's not seating. That's a molding problem.

The lid pops off without too much encouragement. The flapper that covers the spout "grabs" and won't open when water passes by. Molding problems, molding problems, molding problems.

We returned the unit and got another identical one from the Big Box. Same problems.

Maybe it was this production run - I have no way of knowing - but at this price point it's obscene for Brita to be allowing this kind of sloppy quality out their door.

A classic and proven idea, shoddily executed. Bad work, Brita. You should care more.

10 years of Brita pitchers, and I now got a good one.

Plusses over other Britas:

1. No more sloping edges allowing water to pour back
into the pitcher around the spout when loading.

2. No more large messy lid that flies off when pouring or
trying to open.

3. No more flying off lid when pouring.

4. Larger capacity

5. Stylish as Hell, especially in the black, gray, clear combo.
Now I am not ashamed to keep a Brita it near my semiauto Italian espresso
machine or the Krups heater,

Am I happy? You bet!

I bought this filter water pitcher for one the color and style. And next because I wanted to make sure I had the beast water pitcher I can get. I know that Brita has a name brand that I can trust. And boy is it worth it. I love the little indicators on top. That lets me know when I need a new filter put in. It not real heavy when you fill the pitcher with water. And it has a easy to carry handle. The water taste really good and know after taste when you drink it. I really love my water filter pitcher.

I believe this is an excellent product to give yourself filtered water. I used to by purified water by the gallon before, but after buying this pitcher not any more. I don't have equipment to measure the actual quality of the outcome water, but I the building I live in, pipes have a serious dirt problem and sometimes water come out a little bit dusty, brown colored, but after passing through the filter in my new pitcher, the water comes out transparent with no funny flavors.

Water tastes great through a Brita filter, but this pitcher is poorly designed. The following list of cons is short, but these little details have become so annoying that I decided to throw the pitcher away and order Brita's Atlantis pitcher instead.

Cons

1. Water gets trapped under the outer plastic bezel when you wash the pitcher. The trapped water will eventually drip out and leave wet spots on your counter top.
2. Water gets trapped inside the pitcher between the filter reservoir and the transparent pitcher body. This water stays trapped for long periods of time and turns stale.
3. The squared lip of the pour spout creates a dribble problem that will leave little puddles under the pitcher every time you pour water.

Pros

1. Water tastes good.

Conclusion: If you buy a Brita pitcher, don't choose this one.

Product is great! Just what we were looking for. Also, love the design! Couldn't find this in stores. We tried something similar, different brand, and it just didn't work out. We love our Brita!

We've been using it non-stock, and the water tastes GREAT after being filtered. I have sworn off the bottled water, due to the recycling issue. We watched "BAG IT" and vowed to change our plastic consumption ways. I highly recommend it. It's BIG though. You need a good bit of space in your fridge......but well worth it.

I would have left all 5 stars if not for one thing. When I washed this item, there seemed to have been enough space for some water to get in between the black shell and the see-through pitcher's body. You can see some condensation and water droplets on the inside. No biggie, but I kind of wish there were no flaws of that sort that may possibly invite some bacteria.
