4.0 out of 5 stars Works fine for me!
I've owned this pitcher for one week--no spills yet, water tastes great (Dallas, TX). The handle is very sturdy and comfortable to hold--a full pitcher is heavy. When I unpacked the pitcher I did notice that the lid and plastic hinges seemed flimsy, so I'm giving it four stars because I don't fully trust the lid. I haven't owned other Brita pitchers, so I can't rank this...

1.0 out of 5 stars very poor
From day one the top of this pitcher kept falling off and dumped water all over the counter top. I learned to keep a finger on the top but then it slipped and the top fell off and the spout tab broke off so now the spout is useless. One would think that they (Brita) would sell a water pitcher that has some sort of clip to avoid the top from falling off when you try to...

Do not buy this product unless you are ready for some major frustration.

1.0 out of 5 stars WORST BRITA PITCHER EVER, September 4, 2008

THE LID IS NOT MADE SECURELY.

IF THE TOP HOLDING SECTION IS TOO FULL, IT BYPASSES THE FILTER AND LEAKS DOWN THE BACK.

WORST DESIGN EVER FROM BRITA. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. DO NOT BUY!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for the price, October 12, 2010

I see a couple very negative reviews below and I think it's just people being extremely nit picky. This is a great buy for the price.

A) Problem: If you try to pour while it is in the middle of filtering then yes you will get some unfiltered water in your glass.
A) Fix: Wait for it to stop filtering before you pour.

B) Problem: The lid falls off when you tilt the pitcher to pour.
B) Fix: Use your other hand to hold it on while you pour.

I've not had to deal with either of these problems because I follow the two extremely simple steps above.

Anyone thinking of buying this should not let these very minor things stop you from buying it. It does what it advertises to do very well which is filters the water you put through it to make it safer to drink and taste better. I've had this product for six months and it is still doing exactly what it advertises to. No I'm not an employee of Brita. I just think that I got what I paid for in this case and if you want something that doesn't have the two issues mention above you might want to spend a little more money.

A good cleaning tip also is to use a sponge(that you only use for this purpose) soaked with White Vinegar and completely wipe down the inside and outside of all the pieces and let it sit like that for around ten minutes then rinse well. I've had no mold at all yet doing this. Do this each time you change the filter. Let the sponge dry out completely and put it in a zip lock sandwich bag for the next time. Very easy way to avoid mold issues which can be an issue on any of these types of products regardless of price.

Thank you, hope this review helps.

EDIT: I needed to edit this review cause I noticed that the price has gone up about 100% on this product since I bought it. I only paid $39.95 for it and it is currently priced at around $79.00 which I do believe is to much for this product. If you can find it for around what I paid then all my comments are still valid however if you pay the much higher price then I think you should not have to deal with the minor flaws it has which means you should probably be shopping around a little more before making up your mind.
