NOT JUST LONDON,
By
This review is from: Britain Under Fire (Paperback)
Many people who have heard of the Blitz, especially those on the American side of the pond, think of it as a purely London episode. But Germany bombed cities all over the island, from Plymouth to Manchester. Hull was bombed for a year to interrupt Russian aid shipments. Historic towns were hit in 1942 in retaliation for the attacks on Cologne and Lubeck. Whiting writes about it all. Of course, London is included in the action, and takes center stage in the war's last year when V-1 and 2 rockets rain down on the city. This is a short book, but little of importance is left out.
