Britax Advocate Convertible Car Seat

Offering Britax’s highest level of side impact protection, the Advocate Convertible Car Seat combines advanced safety features with a user-friendly design to keep your child safe and comfortable in the car. It’s also packed with user-friendly features like the EZ-Buckle system to keep the buckle out of the way when boarding, a Click & Safe indicator that ensures the harness is properly snug, and multiple recline options. The Advocate accommodates children rear facing from 5 to 40 pounds and forward facing from 20 to 65 pounds.

Choose Only The Best in Safety For Your Child – BRITAX Offers Head Safety Technologies For Advanced Protection

During a car crash, impacts with the front seat aren’t just dangerous – they can be deadly. BRITAX convertible car seats lower your child’s center of gravity to keep them safe, secure and away from front seat. The base of the Advocate includes SafeCell Technology comprised of SafeCells, an engineered material designed to compress in a crash. This compression lowers the center of gravity to counteract forward rotation of the seat, helping to minimize the risk of head injury during a collision. Located in the sides of the seat shell, integrated steel bars strengthen the connection to the vehicle and prevent forward flexing of the seat during a crash to reduce the risk of head injury. Hugs Chest Pads with SafeCell Technology ensure proper positioning of the chest clip while SafeCells compress to manage energy and provide resistance to the forward movement of your child in a crash. In the event of a sudden stop, the Energy-Absorbing Versa-Tether strap restricts forward movement and reduces crash forces with patented staged-release webbing and two-point attachment. This webbing securely anchors the top of your child seat to your vehicle in either rear- or forward-facing positions.

No-Rethread Harness System And Comfort Features

The tangle-free, five-point harness allows for multiple height positions and can be adjusted without dismantling the harness or removing the car seat from the vehicle. Two buckle positions provide a snug, comfortable fit as your child grows. Harness holders prevent the straps from getting in the way when you're putting your child in the seat, while the EZ-Buckle system maintains the harness buckle in a forward position to prevent your child from sitting on it when first entering the seat. High density comfort foam provides extra cushioning, while rear- and forward-facing recline options help your child relax on the journey. And the plush cover comes with matching comfort pads and an infant positioning pillow to keep children of all ages comfortable and secure.

Side Impact Cushion Technology Diverts Crash Forces

Offering both Side Impact Cushion Technology and True Side Impact Protection, the Advocate provides complete protection. Side Impact Cushion Technology, comprised of energy-absorbing cushions on both sides of the exterior of the seat, compress upon impact to divert 45% of the crash energy away from your child while providing protection for the adjacent passenger. Additionally, the Britax True Side Impact Protection system guards your child's head and limits injury by shielding from vehicle intrusion and absorbing crash energy. The car seat has deep sidewalls lined with energy-absorbing EPP foam. This combination diverts crash force energy away from your child while creating a barrier against possible intruding objects. The head restraint offers a double layer of energy-absorbing foam and keeps your child's neck and spine properly aligned in the seat

Click & Safe Technology For The Safest Fit

It's vital that harnesses are properly snug. The Advocate assists in the process of securing your child with the Click & Safe Snug Harness Indicator feature, which provides an audible sound when you're tightening the harness to indicate when it's in the range of appropriate snugness.

User-Friendly Features For Easy Installation

The Advocate takes the guesswork out of installing your car seat thanks to a range of convenience features. An anti-slip, contoured base grips and protects the vehicle seat. Premium lower Latch connectors make for a quick, simple, and tight installation, while the push-button allows you to easily uninstall the car seat. And easy-to-access built-in lock-offs provide a secure installation when using the vehicle lap and shoulder belt.

10-Position, Quick-Adjust Harness

The 10-position, quick-adjust harness repositions harness shoulder height as your child grows without disassembling the harness straps.

Premium Latch Installation

The premium Latch installation provides an audible click and an easy-pull strap to simplify installation as well as a push-button design for easy removal.

Integrated Steel Bars

Integrated steel bars strengthen the connection to the vehicle and reduce forward flexing of the child seat during a crash.

It's very easy to install and use.
The Advocate is the most expensive seat they make and it's money well spent (with one caveat).
I would highly recommend this car seat.

I am a Britax loyalist. We had a chaperone infant seat, and then moved our two boys (4 and 1) up into an Advocate 70 CS and a 70 CS G3 when they were each around 9 months. We totaled our car last weekend, and our insurance paid to replaced both seats with the G4.

Compared to the 70 CS, the 70 CS G3 hugs chest pads had a second strap (for positioning I think) that was a pain to loosen, but then the lower buckle had a well designed, sturdy, angled pad that kept in the right place when putting your child in the seat - saving me from digging it out from under him every time. The G4 has gone back to a single strap chest pad, but kept the lower buckle positioning system. The harness on the G4 also has less resistance when you are trying to loosen it. They also include a very plush infant positioning pad, but we are beyond that stage. After putting a lot of miles on the last two models of this seat, I feel like the G4 seems to have subtle, thoughtful improvements on the G3.

I prefer Britax above all other seats we have tried/borrowed (graco, cosco) for the ease of installation, the high weight limits rear-facing, and for how SECURE they feel when installed. It is easy to tighten the latch straps down, and then the seat does. not. move. All other seats we have tried have TONS of wiggle (sometimes to the point where I can lift them off the seat) after I have struggled to get them in as tight as possible. And as an added bonus, the head protection 'wings' act like pillows and eliminate that 90 degree neck angle while sleeping issue that we've had in seats without head protection.

This past weekend, my son and I were in an awful car accident where we rolled and then were struck by a truck while upside down.

I have four kids ranging from 2-7. I've gone through a lot of car seats, and I've tried a lot of brands. I've come down to a system that works perfectly for me: Chicco Keyfit 30 to start, and then switch to Britax. The Advocate is the most expensive seat they make and it's money well spent (with one caveat). You won't find a safer convertible car seat. Period. Of course this assumes you install it correctly, and use it correctly, but those are two things Britax does a pretty good job of enabling.

The real selling point here is safety. For side impact you just can't beat those giant plastic impact pads. But here is my caveat: if you have more than one of these seats and you expect to put them in the back seat and only take up two seats, you are in for a surprise. We have a good size Honda mini-van, and only a very, very thin person can sit comfortably between two of these things. In a smaller car it would only be worse. In that case you may consider going with the Britax Pavilion line, which is pretty much the same seat without the additional side-impact protection and different fabrics. I would only suggest this if your car has side-impact curtains. If not, and you can fit this seat in your car (and budget) it's the only seat I would buy.

One thing that Britax has greatly improved is the strap and buckle. On some of the older models they twisted easily, and found myself having to untwist the straps often. With the new design I only rarely end up with twisted straps. The new straps also just feel sturdier than the old straps. The seat is comfortable, easy to adjust, and I've found that it's easy to clean stains off of the fabric.

Other than the size I can't think of anything negative to say about these car seats. Short of actually driving your kid around in a tank, I think it's the safest car seat option out there.

I've used the Pavilion G3 and the G4, and the Advocate G3 and G4. They are unbelievably safe, secure car seats. The main difference between the Advocate (top of the line) and the Pavilion (next step down) is how much padding there is on the sides. The Advocate has padding everywhere, and extra on the sides. They say it's for side impact crashes, though it may be debatable how useful this feature is. All I know is, when we were deciding how to bring home our precious "cargo" from the hospital, my wife wanted nothing less than the safest. So here it is.

One word of caution - these seats are HUGE. You can fit 2 in your backseat, but that's about it. Do not plan on swapping these out of cars frequently, as they are a pain to take in and out. You're best buying one for each car (or keeping this one in the car most often used to transport baby, and a cheaper one for the lesser used car). When facing backwards, I had to put mine in the middle seat because it hit the back of my driver's seat.

This is made of nice, durable fabric that is stain resistant (but no harsh chemicals are used). It's got numerous positions to recline, extend the back part as your child grows, and adjust the straps.

We have a very tall 16 month old, and she fits perfectly. We put her in this when she hit 6 months because she was so big. It's been a year, and the seat grows with her which is great!

The main difference between the G3 and G4 is the G4 has an extra 2" of strap length. This makes a HUGE difference if you have big or tall babies. We were constantly maxing out the straps on our G3, as they were barely long enough. The G4 has added length, accounting for the latest recommendations to keep your child in a car seat until they are older.
