We are very pleased with the Diplomat and it has many improvements over the original Boulevard. Foremost, it does fit behind the seats in the front of the car - and someone can still fit in the front seat. This is a must of you have multiple carseats in your car. The push button release to adjust the straps in an improvement over the "pull-up" bar on the earlier Boulevard. The button makes it very easy to loosen the straps, put the child into the seat, and then pull the harness tight. As with the Boulevard, the adjustable headrest/ harness movement is wonderful. You don't have to move the straps to a different hole (and the spend an hour trying to make sure the seat's put back together correctly) - simply turn a knob as your child grows. The recline feature is great because you don't have to uninstall the seat to adjust it. The fabric is soft, but not so soft that you worry about it absorbing every spill. Finally, the carseat is easy to install.

I've heard some children find the "wings" around their heads objectionable. None of my children have had any problems with the side impact protection, but none have ever been in a carseat without side impact protection, so they may just be used to it.

Because the carseat is smaller and more narrow than the Boulevard, I don't think it would be comfortable for a tall, husky toddler. Our 2.5 years old is very tall (about 3 feet) and thin (27 pounds) and although he fits in the Diplomat, he is clearly more comfortable in the larger Boulevard. Thus if you child is over 2 and over 25 lbs, I'd recommend the Boulevard over the Diplomat, especially considering that size isn't as much of an issue when the carseat is forward facing.

I love this carseat. We have two older boys ages 10, 11 and I wish I had one of these for them. The ease of use is incredible- the straps adjust so easily- I don't even need to take him out of the seat or unstrap him to make adjustments, which is a great feature b/c when he wears his snowsuit he is extra bulky. He used to scream in the infant carrier, but he really seems to like the Britax much better. I like the locking mechanism on the side- we have a 2000 minivan and the infant carrier used to rock back n forth and never stayed secure. The locking mechanism for the seatbelt took care of this problem completely. This is like the Mercedes Benz of carseats. Love, love, love, love, love it!

I ordered the Britax Diplomat due to its safety features for my 10 month old boy. I was very pleased that it arrived so quickly. I ordered it on a Wednesday with free standard shipping, and it arrived on the Friday two days later. It is a great car seat. It is very easy to latch it in my car (a crossover), and my baby seems to be comfortable. I would recommend this seat to my friends and relatives.

Doesn't matter if I like it...I'm not the one who'll be sitting in it.

But my 9 month old son LOVES this seat. Before it was infant seat which he hated. Diplomat, I don't get any complaints from him since we purchased it when he was 3 month old. and Amazon had some freak sale where i bought the Diplomat for $169 so no complaints from me either.

Couple thing that stands out over other carseats:

Shoulder harness knob that raise and lowers the shoulder harness with the side impact cushion. While my son's sitting in the seat (not strapped) I can turn the knob to adjust the harness without detaching pulling the string out and feeding it to the right slot and attaching again.

Since side impact cushion moves with the shoulder harness you can be sure that it is right by the baby's head unlike some other carseats with side impact which is stationary so if you're kid's younger or new born or short, the cushion may not be next to the baby's head.

It is compact lengthwise. I have this seat rearfacing behind the driver's seat in Toyota Rav4. I have more legroom with this car seat than when I had the infant carseat behind me (i'm 6'). I used this in my sister's corolla and was able to manage. It is supposed to be more compact than the compatitors (evenflo, alpha omega, other britax etc)

There was a great reviewer who said you may need to put a rolled tower if the seat is not leveled right and it worked like a charm. Thanks

I ordered this carseat because everything I've read says that Britax is the best and because it was on sale. There are a few things that I don't like about this seat. The biggest issue is that the belts/straps twist constantly. This causes problems when you try to adjust the tightness of the belts. One side always tightens more than the other so my son's shoulder sometimes slips out of the one side which is not what you want to see when you turn back to look at him in the car. I do like that the headrest adjusts up with just the turn of the knob and I really like the quality of the fabric. It's very soft and cushiony but seems like it will be durable. My son seems to love it so far. If I were going to buy another one I will go with the more expensive model, in hopes that it wouldn't have these same issues.

best car seat we have purchased. very easy to install. we watched the video on line and installed the car seat in a matter of minutes. baby loves the seat. he's a little 'linebacker' so he's nice and comfy now. not hot either and he can see everything. to recline the seat is easy; as is the shoulder strap adjustment. only problem: wish the strap between the legs was a little longer.

Diplomat is a nice car seat but a limited on the weight range. If you are buying a car seat for short term use, it's a great car seat

We purchased this carset for our 2nd child for the nanny's vehicle. We have the identical seat for our first child and both seats fit great in the nanny's vehicle and we feel comfortable with the safety of the seats in her compact vehicle. Neither one of the children complains so they seem to like the seat. The price was great as well. We love Britax! One thing to consider for someone purchasing this seat is the size and weight of your child. My almost 3 year old is about 25 lbs and my 1 year old is a little over 20 pounds and they fit comfortably but probably wouldn't be a good purchase for a one year old that may already be 25 lbs. They probably won't be comfortable in the seat for a long time.

We purchased this product, because we travel extensively and wanted a top notch car seat for the airplane and rental car. We originally purchased the larger Marathon - but when we saw it, we thought it might not fit some of the airplanes (commuter jets).

This car seat works just fine for airplane and car. The instructions are somewhat confusing, but the use is intuitive, so it's not much of a problem.

One issue: when using it on the airplane, the airplane seatbelt goes directly beneath the padded cushion where the child sits. This means that the buckle is directly in the middle where the child is sitting - and might be uncomfortable as the child grows older / larger. However, our 8 month old seemed to be fine - and when he gets older, we plan to use the CARES system.

The Diplomat is a great car seat. The only disappointment is that you cannot adjust buckle strap length.
