BRITAX 360 Degree Protection
The BRITAX MARATHON 70 features technologies that work to minimize injury to your child during a crash from any direction, including both frontal and side impact crashes - the most frequent types of crashes. These technologies work together with other features on the car seat to minimize injury to your child during a crash by:

  • keeping your child in the vehicle,
  • diverting crash forces away from your child,
  • helping to slow down your child's body,
  • minimizing movement of your child, and
  • protecting your child's brain and spinal cord.
SafeCell Technology for Advanced Head Safety
Designed with SafeCell Technology, the MARATHON 70 features SafeCells, which are engineered structures located in the base of the seat designed to compress in the event of a crash. This compression significantly lowers the center of gravity and counteracts the forward rotation of the car seat, delivering unprecedented performance in a crash.

The MARATHON 70 also features integrated steel bars, which strengthen the connection to the vehicle seat and reduce the forward flexing of the car seat. In addition, the energy-absorbing Versa-Tether anchors the top of the car seat and minimizes forward rotation of the car seat to reduce the crash forces that can reach your child if an accident occurs. These three features work together as a system to provide revolutionary head safety protection for your child.

Side Impact Protection for Added Security
To keep your child safe in the event of a side-impact collision, the MARATHON 70 includes Side Impact Protection. Side Impact Protection is a system composed of a rigid seat shell with deep side walls and energy-absorbing EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) foam lining the seat shell. These combined features work together to protect your child's head and chest from incoming crash forces by distributing the forces over a larger surface area, helping shield your child from vehicle intrusion and contain your child's head and body in the seat.

Premium Fit and Comfort Features
Whether children are watching the world go by or snuggling in for a nap, they'll enjoy that the MARATHON 70 reclines in both the forward and rear positions. And thanks to additional features, which include high-density comfort foam and a plush cover set with a matching belly pad, they'll always ride in style and comfort. A 70-pound weight capacity, two buckle positions, and a tangle-free five-point harness with ten harness-height settings provide a snug, custom fit for your growing child. Plus, an optional Infant Positioning Insert (sold separately) allows you to properly and snugly fit smaller infants into the car seat.

Ease-of-Use for Safety and Convenience
Packed with perks for parents, the MARATHON 70 makes it easy to secure your child in the proper position without guesswork. Premium lower LATCH connectors make for a quick, simple, and tight installation, while the push-button allows you to easily uninstall the connectors. Easy-to-access built-in lock-offs allow you to install the car seat with ease using your vehicle's lap and shoulder belt. The quick-adjust harness system and buckle allow you to reposition the harness height without disassembling the harness straps.

Additionally, an anti-slip contoured base grips and protects the vehicle seat, ensuring a tight installation in all types of vehicles. Convenient holders keep harness straps out of the way when you're placing your child in the seat, and the plush cover set with matching pads removes easily for cleaning without requiring you to disassemble or uninstall the car seat.

The BRITAX MARATHON 70 Convertible Car Seat is backed by a one-year limited warranty.

I have used Britax Marathons for over six years and have recommended them to anyone who's asked-- they are simple to install, comfortable, safe and easy to use. After a recent car accident, I began to look for a replacement Marathon for my three-year old son, but had a hard time finding the model I was familiar with. The owners of my local baby store told me about all the new features of the Marathon 70, so I decided to try it out. After getting it home and having my son try it out in the living room, I've decided to return it and search out the original design.
CONS:
I think it would be a great car seat for an infant or smaller child, but my son is 40 lbs and 40 inches tall and I had a very difficult time buckling the seat belts with him sitting in the seat. For some reason, it seemed like the buckle was placed farther back in the seat or maybe the strap on the buckle is shorter, so once buckled in, he was practically sitting on the hard, plastic buckle. Even with the straps adjusted to their longest length, the buckle was still uncomfortably pressing into my child. I cannot imagine a 70lb child sitting in this chair comfortably. Another thing that I am not a fan of is the two-piece cover. The old model's cover was just one piece and really easy to remove for washing. The Marathon 70 has two to three pieces (depending on if you use the extra cushion that comes with it) and plastic clips that hold it on to the frame. For me, the more pieces to remove and wash, the more inconvenient.
PROS:
I do love the easier strap adjustment system. It is was really easy to push a button and move the headrest/straps to the right position. I also liked the extra cushioning. It seems like it would be really comfortable and soft.

I purchased this car seat after purchasing the Evenflo Triumph car seat, using it for one day, and returning it. After one day of sitting in the Evenflo, my 9 month-old baby suddenly hated being in the car for the first time. He had been perfectly happy in his Chicco Keyfit 30 prior to that, so I knew the new car seat was the problem. If you are switching from a Keyfit 30 seat, you will find that adjusting the Britax seat is very similar and intuitive (and much easier than the Evenflo Triumph). My baby was happy from day one in his new Britax seat, which was a big relief. I recommend this seat for its crash test rating, ability to adjust the straps, and baby's comfort.

So, I was very unsure this convertible car seat would fit properly in my 2006 Honda Accord Coupe until I installed it in my back seat. I assume because of its size, I wouldn't have any leg room left between the seat and the driver's seat. Being an individual with long legs, I still have enough room to be comfortable. The Latch system is also a breeze, and it took me five minutes to install it. I've been comparing convertibles for awhile, since my current six and a half month old daughter started growing out of her Chicco Keyfit 30 early. She's comfortable in her Marathon and fusses less. I also love that Britax thought of the velcro connections which hold back the straps so I can put her in the seat. It helps a lot so I'm not fishing them out from under her. Overall I'm extremely happy with this seat and it's great features, BUT I'm glad this seat can fit not only sedans but also coupes as well.

I bought this carseat after reading all kinds of great reviews on it. I was not disappointed. We live in Florida and its so hot in the summer that I wanted a seat that wouldn't retain a ton of heat, so I bought the "waverly" pattern and it stays relatively cool except, of course, for the metal buckles. It's super easy to install with the LATCH system and could be moved from car to car in less than 5 minutes. My daughter is 13 months old and at 31", her legs are too long to use this seat rear-facing in the car that I have, so I did have to turn her around, despite the new recommendations to keep kids under 2 rear-facing. When she falls asleep her head does loll to the side, so I'm planning on getting something to keep her head straight. Overall, great purchase.

We bought this one for our 2nd baby girl (12 months old) and we loved it compair to our existing 2 other car seats from brands. Thick and soft padding, easy use seat belts, comfortable shape. Very tight to the car and easy put on and take off from the car.

i bought the original marathon for my first daughter who is almost 4, and still rides in it. i had to get a second for my next, who is now 18 months/30 inch/23 lbs. i bought it when she was 13 months, because her infant seat was too small for her height.

It is a little wider than the first--but not as high.

Pros: the seat is super comfortable--i call it a lazyboy seat--because it is deep and the sides come up protectively around your little one. it makes my daughter look small when she sits in it, even though she's very tall for her age. the fabric is very soft as well. also the added feature for seatbelt adjustment is a complete lifesaver!!! there is no need for rethreading, just press the handle and pull it!

my daughter absolutely loves it--she could not get enough of it when she took her first ride, even my four yr old had to ride in it. WAY better than the first one i bought!

However the installation for forward facing threw me off because i couldnt figure out how to latch the seat belt, however after finding the additional instruction sheet that was hidden behind the fabric--it was a piece of cake. just lift the folds of fabric on the back of the seat, and you'll find it.

CONS: There is none!!!

it has all the original safety features and more--the buy is worth it!!!

Size....both my seats fit in the back of my tiny 2000 honda civic, with just a little space enough for a regular size 9 yr old to fit.

i could not be happier!!!!
