Product Description

Color: Desert Palm

The britax parkway sgl belt-positioning booster seat offers premium safety, comfort and convenience for your big kid. This booster seat incorporates britax's leading safety innovations, including one of britax's head safety technologies, a base engineered with safecells. The base with safe cell technology is designed to keep your child safe and secure in a crash by compressing and significantly lowering the center of gravity, reducing the forward movement of the car seat. The isoflex flexible lower latch connection system allows for an easy installation in seconds from either side of the booster seat with only two clicks and a pull. This system not only secures the booster seat to the vehicle, but also stabilizes it during a crash, preventing it from becoming a projectile when not in use. The parkway sgl also features secureguard anti-submarining technology and industry leading true side impact protection now with deep, high side walls lined with energy-absorbing eps foam to protect your child. Comfort and convenience features include a quick-adjust head restraint, retractable cupholders, comfort foam and an easy-remove cover.

Bought this for my daughter who outgrew her Britax Roundabout car seat. Though you can get cheaper boosters I decided to stick with the Britax brand and pay a little more for the quality.

Some notable features:
- Both the back and seat covers can be removed and machine washed.
- Good fabric and padding more substantial than budget boosters. Important for those long car trips.
- SGL (L = Latch) model has latch which prevents seat from moving. I recently bought a second Parkway but the SG model w/o latch since the middle seat doesn't have available latch anchors. Will update if it makes a difference or not.
- Has SecureGuard clip to prevent child from going under the seat belt. It sits comfortably between child's legs and slides over the lap belt essentially making it a three point lap belt.
- Daughter loves Tango color and the two cup holders. She lets her younger brother use the spare one.
- Seat back was easily assembled and can be removed when child outgrows it.
- Seat back can recline to same angle as my car's back seat since one of my concerns was how my daughter would sleep comfortably on long car rides if the angle is too upright. Of course there are safe limits that you should follow which are illustrated in the manual.
- Seat back height can be easily adjusted. Their ears should be below the top of the back and centered on the head rest.
- There are guides (in easily identifiable bright red) where the seat belt should go through. The top guide you only have to loop through once and the bottom guide is where the lap shoulder belt should touch before you click in. Important aspect here is my daughter can buckle herself in easily and properly.

The seat is nice and deep, very comfy, has great safety features and is very easy to use. Two issues I have with it: the fabric is really slippery, which makes my kids, who sit just fine in other boosters slide more than usual, and the seat belt is difficult to manage in respect to pulling it through the shoulder clip area. Once the seat belt is on, it's great; it has the anti submarine clip, which helps with the sliding, but it would really be nice if the seat belt was easier to pull through the shoulder slot.

*EDIT*
So now we've had the chance to use this seat in a few other cars, my in-law's SUV and my parent's minivan, and the belt guide works great in both those vehicles. It must just be our car that has the issue, which is actually pretty reassuring. For the record, we drive a PT Cruiser. Now that said, I still wish it worked better in OUR car, but it's not enough of a problem to really cause concern. I hope this update helps!

WHAT WE HAD BEFORE: We moved from a 5-point harness to a very basic (well rated, somewhat cheap at $60) high-back booster when our child turned 5, ~ 45 lbs, 42" tall. I'm sure it's fine for when your child is bigger, as just a booster/seat belt positioner. However, it was super light, plastic, seemed kind of chintzy, slides all around the seat (no LATCH, not heavy enough to stay), and my child had a tendency to put his legs over the side toward the inside of the car rather than sit forward...that is...everything got a little sloppy. We were eager to reconsider our options, albeit, we definitely rolled around in our decision for a while - cost vs. actual safety. Was the other one "good enough"? We decided...No. Not for now. So, we invested...
WHY WE SWITCHED TO THIS: On all counts, this seat is simply far superior. More comfortable, LATCH'd to seat so it's always flat/straight forward, good seat belt positioning, center "buckle" (watch the Britax video) keeps child from sliding all around, but especially keeps child from sliding under seat belt during hard stops or an accident, love the cup holders (also handy for keeping snacks close), looks cool, so he loves it. I was worried he would be frustrated to leave his loosy-goosy high-back booster, but he's been thrilled. I think he feels more secure and comfortable in it. (Who likes sliding around all the time?) Britax really is superior. I hate the price tag (let me be honest), but wish I would have just started with them from the beginning (perhaps after the infant carrier stage). We have a hand-me-down Roundabout which we are still using as an extra carseat for our younger child - and LOVE it. Their LATCH system - way better, and you can absolutely tell - way more sturdy, comfy car seats. Good luck with your search! (it should be over now! :) )

We've used this for only a few days so far, but we love it. My 5 1/2 year-old is still getting the hang of buckling herself, but she will get it soon. The fit is comfortably snug with the seat belt and the SecureGuard is easy for her to do herself. She is also able to sleep in it. As for the seat belt guide, we have no issues with it on our 2007 Toyota Tacoma. We have a Graco Turbobooster than we use as a spare, and this one is much more substantial and has key safety features (True Side Impact Protection, LATCH, SafeCell) the Graco does not. You get what you pay for...all four of our day-to-day seats (2x Frontier 85, Boulevard 70 and 2013 Parkway SGL) are Britax for a reason!

Edit to add (9/14): We've been using this for over a year now in my husband's truck and we still love it. DD can buckle herself easily and still naps in it, and I feel better about her being in a booster with all of the safety features this seat has. She still sits in a Frontier 85 in my minivan, and I'm going to keep her in that until she realizes she's the only 7yo in a car seat, but I won't hesitate to buy another Parkway SGL for her when that happens.
