Britax car seats are well known for being safe. I've heard from multiple people in the police/firefighter/medical field that they choose these seats for their own children because they've seen with their own eyes how safe they are.

Britax has multiple models to choose from, and from a safety standpoint, they're all great. This particular model is one of the lower end models. As such, it doesn't come with shoulder strap pads (which can be purchased inexpensively at just about any general store or online). It's also less plush than, say, the Britax Marathon.

One thing to note is that Britax car seats can be somewhat large/bulky. If you have a small car you may want to think about how it will fit. That being said, my husband's car is a small sedan and we do just fine with our Britax in there. His driver's seat can't go all the way back, though. If you're tall, this could be a problem for you.

I don't know anyone that has been unhappy with their Britax purchase but I know some people have wished they'd just paid the extra money and gotten the Marathon, since it goes to 70 lbs (which could easily last your child from birth to age 6, when the car seat expires) and are more cushioned, which can come in handy for people who do longer car trips.

Overall you can't go wrong with a Britax. If you can spend more money, I'd recommend the Britax Marathon 70 Convertible Car Seat Current Version, Onyx.

I already had one of these. So, I'm already happy with this product. This model has been discontinued and not available in stores. All the newer models are a pain because the harness strap is not long enough even when fully extended. Because of that, the strap does not stay stuck to the velcro on the sides when putting my son in. Invariably, it falls inside the seat and has to be pulled out from under him. And, during winter, when he is wearing thick jackets, it is even more painful to put his hands through the harness straps. I don't know why they think the shorter straps are "better" than longer ones.

We have 2 other Britax seats. Although I like the Marathon more because the back is shorter, this one does the job and is thinner (by a hair). The only issue is that when it is backward facing AND you are using a mirror, you can't see the mirror very well because the seat is taller than the average seat. Which is strange becuase we have a Marathon 70. Anyway, for the price of this Britax, it's a good buy.

This seat works well in out Sienna. It feels bigger or more reclines than our previous Roundabout that is 5 years older. Fits OK in our 2004 Sienna minivan. You should be prepared to purchase shoulder pads so the strap does not pinch or rub against your child's neck. That is easy to find a your local Walmart of perhaps even on this site.

My husband and I had purchased a different convertible car seat for our first son, and try as we might, we could never get it to fit properly in our small backseats.

I purchased one of these seats for my husband's car when our son outgrew the infant carrier. It fit so well, I immediately bought a second one for my car. The locking clip can make installation with a seatbelt a little difficult, but I like that it makes for a super tight fit.

If you have a car with a narrow backseat and you need a convertible car seat, you won't regret this one. I like it so much, I'm thinking of ordering 2 more for when our second son outgrows the infant carrier!

We currently have a few car seats.. All britax. We bought 2 of these because they were on sale for a great deal! The third Britax that we have is slightly larger than this one.

I really like the roundabout 50 the best! It fits our daughter in nice and snugly! The latch system is fantastic for installation in either our minivan or pilot.

I also love the fact that the belts are in the right places, especially the main part that buckles in.. It is high enough that it doesn't press into her legs.

All in all it's a great, safe car seat and we couldn't be happier with our purchase!

With my first child, I replaced car seats multiple times according to updated size and safety guidelines. With our second child, we decided to spend a bit more money and get a convertible car seat that we really liked. I have a Britax stroller that I love, and this car seat lives up to the Britax name. It IS bulky, however, I feel like when you move a baby from an infant seat to a convertible seat you want it to be bulky enough to provide protection in the event of an accident. I love the design and look of the seat, and the price was great as well. Although we will lose a little bit of room in the back seat, I love knowing my son is safe and protected.

Best thing about this car seat is the seat length. Most people think nothing of this but it is really important for your child's comfort. Most car seats prevent the bending of the knee at the proper point due to being too long. This seat is just perfect. It also affords me more space in the front seat due to my little one's legs not jutting forward, pushing into the back of the seat. His legs go down vertically and his feet are parallel to the floor. Not to mention the height of the seat which allows my curious 3 year old to actually look out the window. Our previous Safety First seat gave him only a view of the door handle. I really appreciate Britax designers for threes two invaluable features.
