This is the 3rd mirror we tried and this will be the last. As our rear facing car seat is placed in the middle of the back seat there is no headrest. The other mirrors (Brica) we tried were "apparently" supposed to be able to install without a headrest but they did not work out in the slightest. Both fell over within minutes. Fast forward through dozens of failed attempts later to get them to stay up and then we found this one on Amazon. It straps to the adjacent headrest (with two buckle straps) and pivots which ever way you need it to. You can also adjust the angle for which ever way you need as well. It has never fallen down or off but every two weeks or so I give the straps a quick pull to ensure they are secure. This mirror has worked in the following cars for us thus far:

- '06 Hyundai Sonata
- '07 Hyundai Santa Fe
- '08 Ford F150
- '11 Chevy Equinox

Hope this helps!

I've used the Brica/SafeFit Baby In Sight Mega Mirror for the past 20 months to view my rear-facing daughter, and I've been pretty happy with it. Since I'm expecting another daughter at the end of the month, I came to Amazon to purchase another one, when I came across the Britax Back Seat Mirror. It didn't have any reviews yet, but it looked nice, and I like Britax, so I decided to give it a shot. Let me tell you, I love this mirror.

It is sooo easy and quick to install, get secure, and angled correctly. The nice part is that it has straps to secure it to the headrest and then a pivot mount to adjust the angle, so you can secure it first and then adjust the angle. With the Baby In Sight mirror, you have to angle it and secure it all in the same step. I also had to stuff a blanket behind the mirror in order to keep it secure and at the right angle. The Britax is so much easier.

The other thing I love about this mirror is how clear it is. It's almost as clear as my rear view mirror, unlike the Baby In Sight, which is kind of blurry.

I highly recommend this mirror. I like it so much that I am buying another one to replace the Baby In Sight mirror I had been using for my older daughter.

(For reference, I drive a Volvo XC60.)

I have to agree with everyone else who is saying that the ball and socket joint that allows this mirror to be placed at an angle is extremely loose. The thing that sold me on this mirror was the fact that it could be securely fastened to the seat's headrest by two clasp joints, and not flimsy velcro; and the fact that it could be angled.

The two clasps that wrap around the headrest vertically and horizontally are great. I haven't had any trouble with the straps coming loose (if they do start to come loose, I'll probably just get them as tight as I need them, then put a safety pin right below the clasp so that the straps can't slide loose).

The ball and socket joint that allows you to angle the mirror is NOT great! It's way to easy to bump the mirror when you're putting the child in their car seat...of course, I didn't usually notice the mirror had been bumped out of the right position until after I'd get in to drive. If, on the off chance you DON'T bump the mirror out of the right angle, it will be happy to move out of the right angle itself during the drive. You really don't even have to hit a bump in the road to cause the mirror to start pointing downward, so that all you can see is the child's feet.

I like the mirror, for the most part, so the easiest fix for me was to put it on the headrest, get it in the perfect position (this is a 2 person job, unless you want to run around from the front seat to the back seat a million times), then duct tape it at the ball and socket joint. It's easy to get it out of position even while you're applying the duct tape, so it really does take two people to do this--the person who normally is driving the car, and someone else in the back seat (of course, I did this in my driveway, not while driving!).

I bought two of these for each of our vehicles; an 06 Honda Pilot and an 08 Nissan Altima.

WARNING: This product can only be securely installed in vehicles with removable rear headrests, but the product description did not indicate this. If you can go out to your vehicle and put your finger UNDERNEATH the headrest on the left or right side, then this mirror should work well for you. The two straps work to stabilize the mirror horizontally and vertically. This might work for a very angular, boxy headrest that is not removable, but mine were contoured and rounded, so this mirror would not stay on the headrest in my Altima with only utilizing the horizontal strap.

It installed correctly with the Pilot, just not the car. This works best when putting the mirror on either the passenger or driver side, but not as well in the middle unless your middle headrest is tall enough to see OVER the carseat in the first place. The mirror has a ball/socket joint for pivoting and can accomodate probably 15-20 degrees of horizontal tilt to adjust viewing and maybe 5-10 degrees of vertical tilt. The vertical is not so much needed because the mirror is nicely convex, which allows you to see more of your subject than a flat mirror.

All in all, a good product, just mind the limitations of installation noted above.
