4.0 out of 5 stars Uppababy Vista Vs. Britax B-Ready, October 6, 2010
This review is from: Britax B-Ready Stroller, Black (Baby Product)
Some differences with Uppababy Vs. Britax B-Ready:

WHEELS - Vista wins. Vista had better wheels. Vista had tread and were more grippery tire like feel. B-Ready had smooth plastic feel to them. I can see that they would get all scratched up easily. B-Ready also had fenders on them which seem to add to bulk. Comparing closely it almost appear one could put Vista's wheels to B-Ready. It's that similar!

HANDLE - B-Ready wins. Handle on B-Ready was nicer than Vista. It pivoted instead of telescoping (which was what the Vista does). The center was had a grip that was molded for one-handed steering. The arms and wrist seem more comfortable (rested more parallel like on a keyboard). My wife at 5'2 found the Vista handle too high and wished it could adjust lower.

FOLDING - Vista wins (barely). Comparing the two, the wife like the Vista (it did take several attempts for wife to get the feel for it, as did I ! Once figured out it was ok).B-Ready required two hands as well but you sort of have to use your stomach so that you could pull the levers toward you and have it collapse. I found it easy if you have larger hands you can pull down the levers easier but since my wife is 5'2, her hands are smaller and sort of used her stomach a bit. With time, I think she could avoid using her stomach. She would just hold the bar and use her fingers to pull down. We also found that you had to straighten out the B-Ready's handle so that when you fold it, it would stand properly stand up and you could lock the folding clasp. DEFINITELY TRY FOLDING IT YOURSELF IN THE STORE! (just to add an another stroller, the Baby Jogger City Select has really easy folding capability!). Both stands up when folded although you have to consciously stand it up. The sales person always seems to fold it and let it flop to the ground. I doubt one would do that outside.

Note on second seat folding - The folding of the B-Ready allows the second seat to be on but it was very bulky (and heavy at a total of 35 lbs) and the canopy of the second seat would get dirty. It's better to just remove the seat.

MAIN SEAT - Vista wins. Vista has 0 degree seat position and B-Ready did not. Vista 2010 added this to address a common complaint. B-Ready is slightly on the decline. So while the B-Ready has a handle that is more ergonomically correct for mom's wrist, it seems the seat upright capability is better for the kid. (previous Vista 2009 owners found the kid pulling themselves forward to get upright).

SECOND SEAT (REAR) - B-Ready wins . Recline of 2nd child add on - B ready was clearly better since it can recline to horizontal sleeping position. Vista had one position. It was not upright but slightly tilted back. More for a child chilling out and may nit be the best if kid is sleeping. The Vista seat was also closer to the front seat and B- Ready has more room for child in rear. A taller person may hit the B-Ready seat with their stride but I'm 5'10 and its not a problem. Also, note that the B-Ready second seat is in the rear of parent behind main seat FORWARD FACING whereas, Vista is in FRONT of main seat REAR FACING. Big difference here! I believe that's why the B-Ready can recline safely. I don't think I would want to have a Vista recline in front and therefore exposing the child's head.

STORAGE - B-Ready wins (barely). B-Ready is accessible on all sides. Vista's is on the rear only. With the rear seat, this is important. However, the Vista has a bar running across where the kid can sort of step their feet on. The B-Ready has their feet in the entire basket and the kids would probably kick at your diaper bag.

CONFIGURATIONS - B-Ready wins. B-Ready has 14 configurations vs. Vista's 3 configurations. Most notably are: B-Ready has ability to use two infant carriers at the same time. You can also place infant carrier in the rear (Vista you cannot. You can only put it in the front). B-Ready can use the bassinet with the second seat. Vista cannot use bassinet with rear seat.

After all this, I am still having problems deciding. For me, it comes down to Vista's 0 degree position but no full recline in rear seat Vs. B-Ready's full recline rear seat but lack of 0 degree position.

Edit:
Update - I ended up buying the Britax B-ready. It's been used it for 6 weeks now. So far, its been great! Very nice, easy ride. It can be bumpy on cobble stones and uneven surfaces. If you want a smoother ride on these surfaces, you'll need bigger, air-filled tires. My complaint is the unfolding part. When unfolding, the plastic clip that holds the stroller , is tricky to "undo" so you can unfold it. You need to pull it out a bit before you unfold which can be tough. I think we'll need more practice at doing this. I'll report back in a few more months.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect double! Updated., September 4, 2010
This review is from: Britax B-Ready Stroller, Black (Baby Product)
Update*** One year later:

Still love the stroller but find that my 3.5 yr old is now too tall for the front seat. The back of the seat is tall enough but the foot rest is way too short! His feet hang off by at least 6 inches. All in all, it has been a great stroller but I think I may be putting it on craigslist soon. However, he still fits in the bottom seat, although he is above the weight limit by 4 lbs.

Thanks, Hollie for another great review!

This stroller is the best stroller I have used, and I have tried 14 different strollers, 3 doubles and 11 singles.

Here is my review of it:

The sun shades for the main stroller and the additional second seat are quite adequate. Plenty of shade and a great magnetic peek a boo window that doesn't wake the baby like Velcro can.

Both seats fully recline, which is totally different than the Phil and Teds and Uppa Doubles. I love that I can face the top seat towards me and it can also face out.

Speaking of seats: My 32lb, 37" tall, 2 yr old can fit quite comfortably in the second seat. He can climb in without the top seat or with the top seat on and the stroller doesn't even start to tip! The Phil and Teds Sport is way more tip happy and we have had several times where it tipped with just a diaper bag on the handle. The new Britax b-ready did not tip with my toddler and a TON of shopping bags on the handle and NO baby on the top. That is a fantastic feature! My todder doesn't mind at all being in the "fort" as we call it!

The britax infant seat fits great on top as the main seat and the clips that must be inserted on your carseat in order for the two to snap together can be left on your carseat and it doesn't effect the usability of your base in your car. That will make more sense after you see the stroller and carseat adaptor.

The handle bar adjusts for tall and shorter parents great. I skipped the cup holder that comes with it and used a BOB stroller caddy as a cup holder and it fits perfectly.

The brake is also great! Just a quick tap on a foot pedal locks it and another tap unlocks it. It is even color coded-red locked, green unlocked. It is so easy that my toddler, who often walks along beside, will step on the brake and say "red light-STOP!" '

The under basket is GREAT! Lots of storage, even with the second seat and the understorage used as a foot well for your other child. You can access the understorage on all sides due to zippers on each side of the basket. I even hang my very large messenger bag/diaper bag on the handle bar and it hangs right behind the second seat with no problem.

I have never kicked the second seat when walking nor has my husband. However, I am only 5ft but he is 5'10.

The stroller handles very well! It turns as easily as a jogger. IMO, just as good as a BOB.

The front wheels are small but can be locked to go straight. Here is one of my only complaints. I wish that Britax would make interchangeable wheels that could snap on that are bigger for rougher bumpier terrain. I have to pull the stroller onto back wheels in order to get in over the 1 inch lip going from the street to my driveway.

It comes with a rain guard which is very nice.

The straps are my other complaint. I am having a difficult time getting them to be long enough to fit over my toddler's shoulders and my 6 months shoulders. They seem to be too short. However that may be user error, I am looking into it.

I really love how the stroller is so versatile with all the different seat configurations! Although, it would be nice if the lower carseat adaptor came standard with the stroller. It is a smooth ride and my kids really like it. For me it is a near perfect double stroller!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great double stroller!, November 15, 2010
This review is from: Britax B-Ready Stroller, Black (Baby Product)
I spent a lot of time researching double stroller options for my 16 month old and newborn. What drew me to this one was the size - it's not too bulky for a double, and it is quite lightweight for a double. I love the versatility of the seat position options, and I like the large underbasket storage space.

One thing I would like to note - there is very little info on the web regarding the lower infant carseat adapter, I got the full scoop from a local baby shop that had been trained by a Britax rep. The upper infant carseat adapter (the one that is $50) clearly explains the various carseats that it can accomodate, whereas the lower infant carseat adapater (the one that is $80) did not explain anything about adaptability. Basically what I found out is that the lower adapter is only made to fit the Britax Chapperone carseat. However, to make the lower seat adaptable to other carseat brands, you need to buy BOTH carseat adapters. The upper "universal" carseat adapter will snap onto the lower carseat adapter, and then accomodate a non-Britax infant seat (we have the Chicco Keyfit 30 infant seat). So if you are looking to use this stroller as a double with an infant seat that is not Britax brand in the lower position, be prepared to spend $130 on both adapters to make it work for another carseat.

The price is pretty high for this stroller, but totally worth it. It pushes well, can easily be pushed with one hand, and it's really nice quality. Keep in mind too, when buying a higher end stroller like this you can often turn around and sell it used for a good amount in a few years when you are done using it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Baby Jogger City Select vs. Britax B-Ready, April 11, 2011
This review is from: Britax B-Ready Stroller, Black (Baby Product)
With three kids under four, including twins, I've had my fair share of double strollers. The Baby Jogger City Select and the Britax B -Ready looked very similar, but they're not when used in doubles mode. Which stroller is better really depends on the age of your kids. For my twins and different age kids, I found the City Select had more advantages, but if you don't have kids close in age, the Britax is worth looking at.

Some considerations:

* The City Select stroller was Baby Gizmo's top tandem stroller in 2010 -- the 2011 model has been redesigned with deeper and firmer seats, improving an already excellent stroller. The Britax B-Ready is a first-generation stroller and still has some areas that could be improved upon.

* Of the two, the City Select is a better stroller for twins because of the 45 lb. weight allowance for each of its full-size seats (90 lb total including storage for the whole stroller), foot wells that expand to 10.5 inches and large canopies that raise up to 24", allowing you to use it all the way up till your children are age 4 or 5. The Britax only has one full size seat as the second seat has a lower weight capacity.

* The Britax B-Ready is a good option if you have two kids of different ages (1 & 3 for example) given the different weight limits on its seats. If you have twins, you'll be limited by the second seat's 35 lbs. weight capacity and a 22" canopy, to about 3 years old - only one child will be able to ride in the stroller past this weight, which is Ok only if one of them has outgrown the stroller. I still use my City Select stroller for long outings with my 4 1/2 yrs. old.

* Another important consideration is that the handle on the City Select extends from 39" to 41", whereas the handle on the Britax B-Ready does not (its handle pivots up and down but does not telescope). This comes in very handy for taller parents, when you raise the canopy on the upper seat (when stadium seating) to give you additional clearance, or when hanging a diaper bag with the seats in the rear-facing position, so the baby is not kicking it.

* The City Select offers more clearance for walking with the second seat in than the Britax

* The City selects offers four recline positions, from fully upright to fully reclined. The Britax Be Ready only offers three.

* Both seats recline on the Britax forward facing, but the second seat is not reversible. On the City Select, both seats are reversible, but they recline fully only in the rear-facing position (with lots of leg room). I actually prefer this configurations as twins are people-magnets and when they are facing towards me and napping it's easier for people to stay away.

* You can hang a larger than average diaper bag (like the Lassig Messenger Eco-Friendly Diaper Bag) from the handle with two seats in the City Select. (Note: the stroller handle says not to but because of the weight distribution I haven't had any problems).

* The City Select allows for 16 configurations including two carrycots (Britax only has 14)

* The Britax B-Ready has a more compact footprint than the City Select, a plus if you don't mind the handle that doesn't extend or are not a tall parent.

* For the City Select - handling curbs can be challenging with double strollers like these but if you pull the stroller backwards up the curb, it's actually easier than most strollers because of the large back wheels. It hasn't been an issue for me.

Some similarities between the two strollers:

* Similar width at 26"

* Huge storage basket in both.

* Tires that handle all surfaces well, indoors and out. It's worth mentioning that neither stroller is meant for jogging.

* The City Select with the second seat weighs 33 lbs., similar to Britax's 36 lb weight, less than iCandy's hefty 44 lbs.

* Both have the same recline mechanism on the seats.

* Easy fold for both. With the Britax, you can leave both seats in and fold quickly. With the City Select, both seats need to be in stadium seating, fully upright with the foot wells folded down as far back as they will go (not horizontal), and then you can fold it with both seats. Honestly, it's a lot easier and faster to just pop off the seats and fold the frame (plus it fits in most cars because it's very compact).

* For the City Select, the "Baby Jogger City Select Second Seat Attachment Brackets" are sold separately if needed on mystrollers dot com (if you lose one for example). You do not have to buy the whole second seat to get them as some older reviews state.

* Neither stroller's seats are appropiate for babies 0-6 months (even if the seats recline fully, they're in a "V" shape as the whole seat tilts). You can get optional car seat adaptors but if you live in a city, you may find that a single snap-n-go/ infant seat with an Ergo carrier for the 2nd baby (w insert #2 for babies 0-4 months) is the easiest way to get around for the first year. A double snap n go is even better and less expensive, and will allow you to use infant car seats so they can nap on outings. Another option is the Maclaren Triumph which folds compactly @ 22 lbs, reclines fully and can be used from birth up, if you want to have a stroller for travel for later on.

Lastly, I also have Maclaren double strollers (Triumph & Techno) and the Bob Duallie. If you're looking for other alternatives, they're all good, but of all of these, I find the City Select is the easiest and most versatile to use with twins and a preschooler (see my profile for a full review with pros and cons). In terms of quality, it is solid and built like a tank, absolutely no problems after six months of daily use. So if you're looking for getting one all-purpose stroller, I highly recommend the City Select.

5.0 out of 5 stars B-still my heart, this stroller is spectacular, March 4, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Britax B-Ready Stroller, Black (Baby Product)
Update - do NOT buy this stroller now. Britax pulled a fast one by telling baby gear reviewers at last years expo that there would be NO changes to the b-ready aside from green being d/c'ed. Now they have released info that there will be changes - the seat will have one more position, that is more upright (imo not a huge deal), shocks are supposed to be better (not sure it matters), buckle will be easier to open, and there will be forever air tires. True air filled tires are better but the forever air should provide a nicer ride anyway. You will be able to buy new tires for the old strollers but hold off on buying as the price isn't changing -although it will no longer include the rain cover or organizer pouch. This was VERY shady of Britax to do - not the changes, but the telling people there would be none. Maybe the 2nd free ride was to clear out old stock? But HOLD OFF. Do not buy until the end of April. It's a VERY nice stroller, the new tires will make it even nicer - and I am seriously bummed about them making these changes. Again - do not buy now. Get the new one - or wait for the price on the old to seriously DROP. Now my original review. :-)

__________________________________________________________

I am a self-confessed stroller junkie. I buy and sell like a used car salesman. I find one I like, I play with it for a while, I sell it and try something new.

I don't think this one will be passed on any time soon.

I plan to use this primarily in singles mode. Of stroller age, I have a 11 month old boy and almost-4yo twin girls. The girls rarely use a stroller any more, but they will hop in and out of the footwell of my single Bob if we are at the zoo or otherwise out for a long time. They get tired and whiny, but I don't do long walks out with them any more, just for the sake of walking. I have a double Bob we can use for serious long days out. I wanted, mainly, a stroller to use with the little dude that I can reverse to see his happy face as we walk.

There was a sale last week so I snagged one of these babies in green. I'm not really into green, but somehow a stroller in green is so different, I loved it. It's a very shimmery emerald green, like a japanese beetle, or a beer bottle. It is a shame they are d/c'ing this color. The material is slightly slippery and sort of a canvas-like weave. Coarse weave but smooth threads. Very nice and should wipe clean well.

Assembly was super easy. Snap open, snap on sun shade, snap on wheels. I have not put the mud guards on, I don't see a point - I don't plan to walk where it is muddy. I suspect they might keep small fingers off the wheels in doubles mode, though.

The stroller has some weight to it, to pick it up, but I don't mind that at all. It feels sturdy. I like a heavy, sturdy stroller. Pushing it is no problem. Very smooth rolling, steers easily.

It folds easily, if somewhat large. It has a latch to keep it shut but there is a lot of wiggle in it so when you pick it up, latched, it almost feels like it is going to fall back open - but it doesn't.

The seat is a decent size. For test purposes, I put my girls in. One is smallish for her age and fit acceptably well. Legs were a bit too long, but she could still sort of use the foot rest. The other girl's legs were just too long. This lacks a proper footrest on the frame itself so a taller kid, even within the weight limit, probably won't be super comfy in this stroller for long periods of time. Kind of strange how they omitted a foot rest on the frame. There is a slight ledge but not a real rest. I expect that by the time little dude is getting tall enough to max out the seat, he will never want to face me anyway so I will sell this on and use my trusty old Quattro or Bob. I'm guesstimating this is not an ideal stroller for heavy use past 3 or so.

The basket is HUGE - which is a very important feature to me. I have 4 kids and we tend to carry a lot of stuff if we are out for the day. Diaper bag, coats, baby carrier, sometimes lunches. Love the basket.

The harness is sort of nice, sort of not nice. I like that it has a nice padded thick crotch part and I love that it can be either a 3 pt or a 5 pt. I have never really felt the need for a 5 pt harness in a stroller. Maybe some kids really need them so it's great when you have the choice. It is a little stiff to buckle - you have to really push - and a little evil to unbuckle - you have to press in and tug at just the right angle. This is great, I suppose, for kids who are escape artists, but I have never really had that problem, so I find it a bug, not a feature. It's not horrible once you learn just the right angle but it would be nice if they just popped out. No one wants to have a screaming baby and be fighting with a harness.

The harness is the no-rethread type so if you do like to use a 5 pt, it is easy to adjust. The part the harness comes through makes a little pillow for the head.

Sunshade seems decent. I was indoors so had no real need of it for sun purposes but I like to pull it up while baby is sleeping - and he slept a good while in here. It has a nice magnetic-closure peek-a-boo window as well as a little flap in front you can pull down for a little more sun blockage. It would be nice if there was another metal/magnet part to hold the window OPEN - it kind of lays open but any wind would probably blow it shut. Small detail.

Seat is easy to flip from one position to another, as well as easy to tilt. This is a tilt seat vs. a true recline - I never thought I would like this kind of seat very much but it works well. It reclines plenty enough to sleep. I think they say not to put a newborn in here since it doesn't lay flat but I never found laying flat in a stroller seemed to make my newborns very happy. They aren't flat in a bucket or swing so I am not sure why we have notion that newborns need to be flat in a stroller. My first 3 kids laid flat in the stroller as newborns and screamed; we put my last in a Bob at 4 weeks with a JJ Cole body support and he was just fine. I think you could do the same with this if you didn't want to use your bucket with the stroller. (One gripe which doesn't affect me is the extra cost for car seat adapters for this stroller - my little dude is almost out of the bucket so I have not bothered with those. It comes with a Britax adapter for the top part, but we have a Graco bucket so would need to buy something else. For the bottom part, you need to buy one thing to use a Britax bucket, TWO things if you use a non-Britax bucket - I think that's a little crazy. There are far cheaper strollers that come with the adapters you need. Come on Britax, throw us a bone!)

The belly bar was at a good distance for a small baby to be able to grab or chew on. It has a foam covering, though, which may not hold up well to sharp baby teeth. I think I might sew some sort of cover for it, with toy loops. It should come with such a cover, matching the stroller!

The handle bar is sturdy, solid, and adjustable. For my purposes, adjusted, it was pretty flat, meaning I can use the Jolly Jumper stroller caddy which is fairly cheap and quite awesome. (It is nearly identical to the Bob caddy but has longer straps) The stroller comes with one hard plastic cup holder which I was using to hold my cell phone but my baby kept trying to grab it so I ended up giving it to him to play with and kept my cell phone in my pocket. The cup holder will only attach to the right hand side of the stroller, a negative for the lefties out there. The stroller comes with an organizer you are meant to keep down at the basket level - two bottle holders and a zippered part - some people put this on the handlebar but I think it looks kind of odd in either place. Britax is coming out with an add on organizer that looks better, for a price of course - I think they should just include that and get rid of the weird basket-level organizer.

Stroller comes with rain cover which is a nice touch but not something I hope to make use of.

The "suspension" part of the stroller I can't say was too amazing. It rode nicely enough but it rode like any sturdy foam-wheeled stroller (ie Graco Quattro which I happen to love). Those black bars you see in back have shocks in them - you can see them give if you push down on the stroller - but I don't think they add much to the ride. Maybe you'd see more of it with a heavier kid. The ride is fine for smooth terrain - our mall actually has big tiles so somewhat bumpy and it was a nice ride - just don't put too much stock in the suspension claims. You won't be off roading with this stroller.

The brake works well. It's kind of magical, it is only on one side but it locks both wheels. I think it sends a signal to a satellite up in space which tells the other wheel to lock. Actually I am sure there is some mechanical explanation to it such as a cable running inside the frame but I like to think it is magical.

I think the best part of this stroller was it is totally open in back between the wheels. There is no axle between the wheels (hence the magical brake). I am not quite 5'4 and short in the leg - I need to buy "short" pants - but I still find myself kicking strollers if I am really booking it for exercise. With nothing between the wheels, there is nothing to kick! (Can't say yet how the second seat affects this)

This stroller was a delight to push and a joy to walk with. I just walked 6 1/2 miles instead of my usual 5. :-) It took up a lot of space in my trunk but folded easily. My baby slept well in it, allowing me to walk further.

One thing to note - this stroller is WIDE, for a single. My Graco Quattro and the Mamas and Papas Sola are both about 24 inches wide, my single Bob is a little narrower than that - maybe 22? - this is about 27 inches wide. It's not as wide as a double, and it's rare I have had trouble with a double even, out in about, but be aware this is WIDER than your average single. I was surprised.

When people talk about having had problems with this stroller, generally Britax seems to come through and help out by sending replacement parts. That is a big deal when considering a stroller of this cost.

Overall I am in love with this stroller. I am going to give the 2nd seat a whirl, although I won't get as much use out of it as I would if I had only two kids closer together. As a double I think this stroller is far from perfect, but the 2nd seat will add some versatility to it. I'd call this a single that can be used as a double in a pinch vs. a single that really becomes a nice double, if that makes sense - hands down, I'd have to say get a City Select for serious dedicated in-line double use, or a side by side. I think it will save my Bob some from the improper footwell use, though. I will review the 2nd seat when I get it. As a single, this stroller is a stroller hoarder's dream.

4.0 out of 5 stars great full size stroller, March 4, 2011
By
S. Cahail (Marysville, Wa, US) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Britax B-Ready Stroller, Black (Baby Product)
I have the silver one and it is a great stroller. I get compliments on it all the time. It is really nice that there is a doubles stroller out there that isnt the size of a car, and even better is the fact that it can be used in so many different configurations. I like the fact that you can fold it with the second seat attached BUT, it is bulky. If I remove the wheels it fits a little better. I love how both seats recline and have sun shades. I also love how the brakes work on this stroller, one click on, one click off. The handlebar is adjustable which is great because my hubby is 6'1" and I'm 5'5" and we can both push it with no problems at all. We have two toddlers and so we only use it in the double toddler mode so that is all I can tell you about.

I have a few issues that I would like to bring up.

Cup Holder: the cup holder comes off to easy. My three year old kept pulling it off or it would fall off. I gave up and took it off.

Parent Console: there is not a functional parent console that you can use in doubles mode. It does come with a parent console but it only works well when attached by the wheels (by your feet) and you have to move it to put on the extra seat. When you move it to the handlebar it swings all over the place (only held on by velcro at the top) and if you have a child in the bottom seat it can hit them on the head. It has places in it for drinks but if you put one in there it tips and the drinks leak.

Front basket zipper/foot rest: The zipper access is a great idea and I use it a lot, but I am afraid that my three tear old steps on it when she gets in and out of the stroller and I'm afraid that it will break. On a related note, the footrest is very short, so she just ends up with her feet dangling. Granted shes tall, but I think that Britax should address this issue in the newer model.

The second seat: It is very short, my three year old daughter's head hits the top. My younger daughter sometimes wants the top seat so that she can see what is going on, she doesn't always want to be stuck in the bottom because her sister doesn't fit down there.

Heavy and bulky: Especially when folded. They say that is can be folded with the doubles seat on but it is a monster to wrestle into any size trunk. The wheels do come off easy and makes it a little easier to fit.

Hard to push up and down hills : This stroller with my two kids in it (25 and 35 pounds) weighs over 100 pounds and is tough to push up or down a hill (it will drag you downhill so you really gotta be careful).I think the downhill part could be fixed with a hand brake, the uphill part with better suspension or tires. (no give at all in the suspension)

The sun shades and wheel guards pop off: The sun shades and wheel guards are a great feature but I find myself having to click them back on all of the time (I am actually missing a wheel guard because it broke from being put back on so many times)

Wheels: I wish they would put shocks on this stroller and larger wheels or make them air filled because this stroller even struggles on grass and is quite a bit of a bumpy ride on anything except pavement.

Overall it is a great stroller, I just wanted to give everybody a full review given the price of this stroller. I don't think these things affect the overall quality of the stroller, I just wanted to make everyone aware of them. Some of these things are to be expected with a stroller this size (heavy and bulky) and and others are likely because this is a very new stroller and Britax is still working out the kinks.

2.0 out of 5 stars Excited by the hype, Let down with the purchase., March 17, 2011
This review is from: Britax B-Ready Stroller, Black (Baby Product)
I first want to admit that I am a stroller addict. I have so many strollers that my friends laugh at me. My favorite of all time has been my Peg Perego Pliko P3, but since we had another addition to the family I was looking for a double stroller just when the Britax B Ready came out. I purchased the B Ready in November and started using it at the end of January when my second son was born.

The good:
1.)It looks great. I have many compliments when cruising around. I think mainly because people have never seen a stroller where the baby can be in a car seat at the bottom. This is the main reason why I bought this stroller- to prevent unknown people from coming up and touching the baby. For the most part, people don't even realize that there is a baby there unless he is crying.
2.) I like the braking system. One peddle to step on. Red and green indicators. Really smart.
3.) The handling is great. Its an easy one handed pusher. I did test out the City Select too, but found it too much like driving a boat when trying to turn corners. You won't get that feeling with the B Ready- I compare the feel to that of the Phil and Teds, ready easy and smooth- on smooth surfaces.

The bad:
1.) This thing is a PAIN to fold and unfold. I have to lay it down on the ground to do both (really to get it unlocked and relocked) which has resulted in it getting scratched up in a few places even though I have been extra careful trying NOT to scratch it. This upsets me since I paid almost $900 for the stroller and all the accessories to it thinking "what a great stroller." I also think the frame is too flimsy and don't think it will hold up past this child. I would not trust it to hold up through a trip on an airline (which my Peg Perego got to travel the world and back). Every time my toddler is in the seat he moves around and I am afraid he is going to snap it in half and land on the baby below. (The seats snap into place so it doesn't have a solid feel to it.)
2.) It is advertised that you can leave the extra attachments on the stroller when it is folded and unfolded. I learned that if you do this, it will severely gouge the frame; and in fact I received a replacement stroller from Britax only after a month and a half of using the stroller because a screw on the seat was rubbing against the frame when being folded. I will say that the Britax customer service has been wonderful.
3.) There is no handle to grab when trying to carry it. This is a negative because the stroller is big and bulky and having no where to hold on to makes it all the more awkward to handle.
4.) I have a 2010 Honda Pilot and in order to have the seat in my car, I have to have the back seats folded down, it is HUGE and the Chaperone car seat I bought to match the stroller barely fits into my car. So I caution anyone thinking about buying the stroller/car seat combo to make sure the seat will fit in your vehicle.
5.) Straps- it is almost impossible to buckle my 2 yr old into this stroller. The straps are TOO SHORT. I have undone the shoulder straps and have the straps going around his waist only- which will not last too long because they are at the max length now and are almost too small to even go around his waist.
6.) No foot rest- just an FYI I never thought about before I bought the stroller. I have a fairly tall two year old, and his legs dangle over the main seat awkwardly because they are too long and there is no foot rest to help support his legs.
7.) The parent cup holder is a joke. It snaps on and off at an odd angle and will only go in one spot. It may not be as bad if I could move it into a different spot. But as it is now, it juts out the side of the stroller, so I took it off and don't use it.

Overall, I am not happy with this stroller and the main reason is it cost too much money for all the issues I am having with it. I expected a luxury stroller that was "easy" to use. Though it may look nice and it does push easily, the folding and handling (not to mention the fact that it already looks used and abused after only using it a few times) have me wishing I would have purchased something else. If I didn't spend around $900 on this system thinking I would be able to use it for "another" one, maybe I wouldn't be so disappointed. But spending so much money only to have so many issues and now feeling that it will not hold up long enough for "another one" is a real heart breaker :(

P.S. This is the second one I have had (received a replacement from Britax over a screw issue) so I am under the impression it is not just a lemon but more of a design issue.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great stroller - but not easy to travel via public transport, September 29, 2011

This review is from: Britax B-Ready Stroller, Black (Baby Product)
Overall, we think it is a great stroller, but it is not easy to travel via public transport with this stroller. My review is to give a perspective for people who do not have their own car. I've given it a 4 star because we love this stroller, except that traveling by bus is challenging.

We bought this stroller online on a Thursday with Amazon Export US, and we received it (in Singapore) the following Monday! Amazing! We bought the second seat, lower car seat adapter and universal car seat adapter, and we have a Graco Snugride infant car seat.

We live in tropical Singapore. We do not have a car, and so our mode of transport is via taxi, bus and MRT.

Travelling by bus
It is virtually impossible to travel on the bus with this stroller if you are on your own with your baby(s). In Singapore, most of the buses are not wheelchair friendly, and have narrow steps to go up and down the bus. Strollers must therefore be folded in order to travel by bus. If you are on your own, it is very difficult to wear baby in a baby carrier, and lift this stroller up and down the steps of a bus unless you have help. It is too heavy (i'm 5'2'' weighing under 50kg), and it is wide. This stroller is almost as wide as some of the narrower side by side strollers.

Travelling by MRT
It is not an issue to travel with this stroller via MRT (in Singapore, there are lifts at every station). Escalators are possible, but a little tricky because this stroller is longer than a typical single stroller. I do not recommend using escalators with this stroller, particularly if baby is seated in the stroller.

Travelling by Taxi
I have travelled by taxi on my own using this stroller. I do need the taxi driver (or some helpful passer by) to help me lift the stroller into (and out of) the boot of the car, but I could probably do it myself with some effort.

Infant Car Seat
Our baby will be outgrowing the infant car seat very soon, and we need to find a car seat that we can take with us given that we do not have a car. Most car seats are far too big and bulky to carry on a day trip! We discovered that the Combi Coccoro convertible car seat (from birth and up to 4 years old) can easily be carried in the shopping basket of this stroller (provided that the lower seat is not used), whilst our diaper bag hung on the handle bar of this stroller! The Combi Coccoro car seat is a similar width to a standard infant car seat, and is similar in weight. This car seat can be installed in the both seat positions (but it would be a wobbly ride and not safe for a baby to be seated in this car seat on this stroller). We have also comfortably placed our Graco Snugride infant car seat in the shopping basket on a day trip, whilst we were waiting for the car seat adapters to arrive.

Car Seat Adapters
We also bought the lower car seat adapter and universal car seat adapter. Both items do what it says on the tin! However, our Graco Snugride does not fit easily into the universal car seat adapter, and needs a little pushing/tweaking to get it to click into place.
As per the instructions of the universal car seat adapter:
"Works with Graco Snugride 32 & 35
Chicco Key Fit 30
May also be compatible with other major manufacturer's infant car seats with the use of the universal adapter strap"

In order to use a non-Britax car seat in the lower seat position, it is necessary to use both the lower car seat adapter AND the universal car seat adapter. If you use a non-Britax car seat in the upper seat position, the instructions clearly state that you MUST NOT use the extension brackets that would move the car seat further out, which would provide more room for the lower seat position. This is something to be aware of if you use a non-Britax car seat in the upper position, and have a child in the second seat.

Baby Jogger City Select (BJCS) vs. Britax B Ready
I tested the BJCS in store. I loved the fact that the second seat sits higher off the ground compared to the Britax B Ready, and that both babies/children can have a good view in the seat. In addition, both seats offer the same weight limit. However, I am glad I went for the Britax B Ready because it is a stroller that meets my requirements better for the reasons listed below.

These are my reasons for NOT OWNING the BJCS:
- The BJCS is one of the longest double strollers on the market. The Britax B Ready has a footprint of a single stroller, although it is slightly wider (0.75cm wider than the BJCS). There is surprisingly lots of room in between the two seats of the Britax B Ready, depending on the configuration you use.
- I found it difficult to lift the front wheels of the BJCS up (such as traveling over a kerb), when both seats were installed and with no kids in them! It was okay with only one empty seat, but still very heavy (because it is a long stroller). The Britax B Ready is easy to lift via front wheels or back wheels first, fully loaded (i have only tested it with one child, a full shopping basket and more shopping on the handle bar).
- You would not be able to travel (or find it very difficult to travel) on an escalator with the BJCS, because it is far too long. We have travelled up and down escalators with the Britax B Ready, although this is only if there is no lift available!
- I also found the maneuverability of the BJCS heavy and difficult, and even more difficult with one hand. This was in store on a flat smooth surface. The Britax B Ready is so easy to maneuver and does not require much effort to move it either, even single handed with a child in the upper seat and a full shopping basket, but it is a wide stroller and tight aisles or spaces will be restrictive.

UPDATE
We've now used this stroller for almost 2 months. We use it almost everyday, and I take it for long walks in the park often 2-3 hours each time, at shopping centers, on pavement, occasionally on grass and sand. So far, we have not had the squeaky wheels issue that other people have experienced. My daughter loves sitting in it, and she often falls asleep in it and sleeps for up to an hour each time during her usual nap periods.

My daughter is a chewer though - and at 13 months, she still wants to put everything into her mouth. She has chewed on the front bar when I was not looking, and has chewed off chunks of the black material. I have resorted to putting a protective fabric over it to prevent this.

We still love this stroller, despite it's size and this minor detail of the front bar.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect for those with a "sometimes rider", November 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have a three year old and a newborn and prior to my littlest one's arrival I scoured the internet tirelessly looking for the perfect stroller for my then two year old and my newest addition. I eventually narrowed it down to this or the baby jogger city select. I finally decided on this one for a few reasons, the first was it had a smaller stance even when in doubles mode (because of its an inline design). The second reason was it actually folds up with the second seat attached, a huge plus when getting in and out of cars. This stroller has been fantastic for my three year old who calls it his "racing stroller". My big one is old enough where he doesn't need to ride all the time so I don't put the second seat on all the time. The stroller with just the infant seat attached is small enough that it doesn't feel like I am pushing a double at all. I originally was skeptical about the second seat being in the basket and that my big boy wouldn't be able to see but I forgot how different things look to a three year old. When I first put the stroller together he immediately loved that the seat was so low to the ground he could climb in himself and that he was "hiding" in the bottom seat. I especially love that he can climb in and out of the bottom seat without disturbing my baby on top or tipping the stroller over. I will include a note for those who want to use this with an infant seat and the second seat: make sure you use the spacers that come with it! I originally didn't use these and it made it incredibly hard for him to climb in and the infant seat was practically on top of his head. I only have two changes I would make with this system: the second seat's weight capacity is only 35 lbs so my big boy won't be able to use that for long but by the time he outgrows it my little man can move right it. Additionally there is no available child tray only cup holders, but the system is still brand new and I hope that britax will come out with one soon. Overall this is a fantastic choice for those who want a system that can seamlessly transition from a single to a double and back again without excess weight or size.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally a double stroller worth purchasing, March 12, 2011
This review is from: Britax B-Ready Stroller, Black (Baby Product)
I love my new B-Ready stroller - I got the St. Patty's Day green (tired of red and black). As a reference, I currently own/owned Bugaboo w/ a toddler stand, an UppaBaby G-Lite, a Maclaren Volo and a Maclaren Techno XT. I had given up on buying a double stroller after a year of research, until I discovered the Britax B-ready. I loved the Phil&Ted's in-line design (a must for NYC) but the 2nd seat was so low to the ground, it didn't recline, and both seats only faced forward. I was almost ready to buy the UppaBaby Vista but again the back seat does not recline AT ALL (think sitting in coach on an airplane) and the $800 price tag (for all the odds & ends) left much to be desired. I loved all the configurations from the City Select but w/ the 2nd seat "ahead" of the main seat, the weight of the stroller is shifted forward making going over curbs (frequent in NYC) nearly impossible. Plus, I wanted the little one closer to me.

So I had been surviving with a 1yo and a 3yo ina Bugaboo and an attaching stand. But when my 3 yo gets tired from a fun day at the park (or exhausted from the challenges of painting/singing at pre-school in the fall), my 1yo would have to spread their legs so the 3yo could sit on the "bottom" ledge. This was fine for a while but now the 1yo is constantly kicking the 3yo in the back - read lots of screaming and tears. So when the B-Ready came out solving all the issues I had with the other strollers, I bit the bullet and got one! As concerned as I am about width (the aisles in the grocery stores here are beyond narrow), I am actually glad that this is a full-size stroller since the seats are roomier and makes it easier to use my big thick stroller blankets during the winter. The cup holder does not fall off like a previous reviewer said, it has a small hole and must "click" into the right side of the stroller. It's so secure you'd have to break the plastic for the cup holder to fall off. The sun shades are generous like my G-Lite, the seat belts take some time getting used to, and the basket is unbelievably roomy (the Bugaboo's basket sucks). I too am concerned that the basket might rip eventually since my 3yo keeps stepping on it to climb in, but I just put the "spacers" in so maybe there will be more room for my child to climb in properly.

I find the stroller easier to push especially over curbs than my Bugaboo and makes nice tight turns. Haven't tried it "off-road" but don't think it would be any more difficult than my Bugaboo. Overall, it gets 2 thumbs up!
