This poster is a vintage ad for BCPA and their DC-6 planes. It shows a plane flying over the water and says at the top "BCPA leads the way across the Pacific with the 'Pressurised' DC-6." At the bottom it says "Now flying the 'Southern Cross' Route. Vancouver - San Francisco - Honolulu - Fiji - Auckland - Sydney. British Commonwealth Pacific Airlines Ltd."
British Commonwealth Pacific Airlines or BCPA, was registered in New South Wales, Australia in June 1946 with headquarters in Sydney. It was formed by the governments of Australia, New Zealand and the UK to pursue trans-Pacific flights. The Douglas DC-6 is a piston-powered airliner and transport aircraft. Originally intended as a military transport near the end of World War II, it was reworked to compete in the long-range transport market.
