More About the Author

An astrologer and palmist since 1989, Frank began data collecting with Lois Rodden, contributing to and editing her magazine Data News and book Profiles of Women (1995). Frank's first book, British Entertainers: the Astrological Profiles was published in 1997 (rev. 2003). Frank's database of celebrity data is on the Solar Fire program as The Clifford Data Compendium (1997, 2000) and on Astrodatabank. He produced The Astrologer's Book of Charts in 2009.

In 1996 he founded Flare Publications, and since then Frank has edited and published over a dozen books on astrology, including Astrology in the Year Zero by Garry Phillipson, The Contemporary Astrologer's Handbook by Sue Tompkins, and a revised edition of The Twelve Houses by Howard Sasportas, with tribute essays to Sasportas by Liz Greene, Darby Costello, Melanie Reinhart, Laura Boomer-Trent and Erin Sullivan.

Frank has combined his work as a consultant astrologer with that of sun sign columnist for magazines such as Marie Claire (UK), Quick and Simple (Hearst, US), Reveal (UK), and Candis (UK). He has also been profiled in various broadsheets and tabloids, and is a regular on TV and radio. Frank has columns in The Astrological Journal, the ISAR Journal and The Mountain Astrologer. His media work has ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous - from being interviewed for documentaries about the BBC comedy Little Britain and the Danny Boyle feature film Sunshine, guesting on Radio 4's The Inconstant Moon with Jeanette Winterson, and working with the Oxford University Press and Universal Studios... to being asked by The Sun to locate a then-missing Saddam Hussein!

Frank is also a well-known palmist and consultant (with The Guardian newspaper dubbing him the 'palm reader to the stars'), and his book Palmistry 4 Today (published in five languages) is considered the modern textbook on the subject. Frank's other book on palmistry, Palm Reading (Hamlyn, 2003) is a unique guide with profiles on love, work and personality for each part of the hand. In 2007, cards of these profiles were published. Every year Frank organises the Palmistry Conference in London, which brings together some of the top hand analysts in the country.

In 2004, Frank took over the London School of Astrology (www.londonschoolofastrology.co.uk) and runs certificate and diploma classes, seminars and residential courses in astrology and palmistry. Considered the students' choice for studying astrology in the UK, the LSA prides itself on hosting an eclectic range of some of the most accomplished astrologers from around the world to give seminars and classes. Frank has also set up an annual Astrology Student Conference (www.astroconference.com) and the Astrology and Music Conference. He has lectured in Europe, Asia and the USA, and is a regular guest tutor on the Psychology Course at the London Metropolitan University.

Four new books by Frank are due in 2010: The Astrological Companion, Getting to the Heart of the Chart: Playing Astrological Detective, Humour in the Horoscope and The Midheaven: Spotlight on Success.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant updated version, July 28, 2003
This review is from: British Entertainers: The Astrological Profiles, Third Edition (Flare Astro-profiles) (Paperback)
This is one of my favourite astro books (see my Amazon list). This is a new edition, with hundreds of additions, updates and even quotes from and about the Brit celebs. He's got some great new profiles here: Ian McKellen, Charlotte Church, Robson Green and Andrew Lloyd Webber. The charts are bigger than before and he uses Placidus house cusps for the 300+ horoscope wheels. The profiles are fascinating, witty and sometimes deliciously bitchy in an understated-British sort of way. It's the only book I've found that profiles famous charts and peppers the commentary with authoritative astro-vignettes. I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Astrology of the famous, July 28, 2003
This review is from: British Entertainers: The Astrological Profiles, Third Edition (Flare Astro-profiles) (Paperback)
This is really a great book, full of interesting data and profiles of hundreds of british celebrities. I found this book witty, informative and would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about astrology. Although it's worthwhile for the student astrologer (like me) who needs real examples to understand the subject, it's also a great read for non-astrols because the author has researched the lives of many popular entertainers and gives dates of important life events. What he's done is to add astrological commentary so the astrology provides insight into the personalities of the famous. I loved the introduction, where he gives each planet's association with entertainment. It's obvious he's done his research.
