This review is from: The British Library Guide to Bookbinding: History and Techniques (British Library Guides) (Paperback)
This is an excellent resource for the beginning bookbinder or book historian. There are many examples of extant books from throughout the ages - along with explanations and descriptions of the different book parts. Not only does it go through all the elements of bookbinding (sewing, attaching boards, leather vs. paper, etc.), but it also touches on the history of bookbinding (from scriptoriums to the printing press to mass production). A great read!
