5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to Brit Rock book collection, April 21, 2011
This review is from: The Fab British Rock 'N' Roll Invasion of 1964 (Paperback)
There aren't many decent books which focus on this specific subject: the FIRST wave of British music artists who "invaded" the United States in the mid '60s. This is a very attractive book - with plentiful, excellent photos and brief but to-the-point stories about the artists and their chart action. The book covers the pop singers (including - for once! - the female contingent), rock groups, personalities, as well as a look at origins, styles and trends of the Sixties. A welcome title for any Invasion fan or Anglophile!

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! Wanted More!, November 20, 2001
This review is from: The Fab British Rock 'N' Roll Invasion of 1964 (Paperback)
I found this a great book, reading through it gave me a few more stories about some of my fave bands, and the photos were excellent. I only wished it had been longer! A great read for those unfamiliar with the Fab British Invasion.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor, superficial research, January 24, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Fab British Rock 'N' Roll Invasion of 1964 (Paperback)
McAleer has produced a slick, superficial
survey of the Beat Era with very little
insight to the actual musical achievements
of the groups. He has no sense of historical
or artistic value of the music produced beyond
a "headline" mentality. No probing beneath
the surface (or the Top 40).

Poorly designed book, with mediocre photo
selection, most seen elsewhere.
