Best CD of Britney's ever,
By jcsports25 (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Britney (Audio CD)
I am a Britney fan and I am proud of it. For all those people out there who hasn't bought this cd and said its horrible, you are wrong. I have all 3 cds and this is the best. She has grown up and if you are to ignorant to read what I have to say, you shouldn't be looking Britney's new cd. Here is what I think of each song:1. I'm a Slave 4 You ~ A+ I like this song. It doesn't me anytihng bad at all. Its saying she's growing up and people can't see that... 2. Overprotected ~ A this is song is pretty cool. Its about her once again. 3. Lonely ~ A+ this is one of my favorites 4. I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman ~ A this is probably the song that relates to her the most and one of almost every fan's favorite. am i rite? 5. Boys ~ B- I dont really like this song, though i like the beat. 6. Anticipating ~ A this song seriously sounds like its from Janet Jackson. Sounds pretty good. 7. I Love Rock N' Roll ~ B- I used to likehis song because I heard the original, this version is bad cause she made it more modern. 8. Cinderella ~ A++++++++ this is my number one, all time favorite song of this album. It shows girl power, attitude, and that Britney got a great voice. 9. Let Me Be ~ A+ another good song 10. Bombastic Love ~ A- sounds a bit weird this song. 11. That's Where You'll Take Me ~ A if you have a stressful day, its good to listen to this song. Very soothing 12. What Its Like To Be Me ~ A+++++++++ second favorite song. yes even though Justin wrote this song its good(cause I hate NSYNC). If you don't believe me, buy it yourself.

Decent - but not her best,
By Chris Eberlein (USA) - See all my reviews

Britney Spears' Grammy-nominated album Britney is just as its name states: It's all about Britney. She's a "Slave 4 U," "Overprotected," "Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman." That's good ~ but the only thing that makes this CD not as decent as her others is the fact she doesn't look like she means it after you see her video. Sure, "Slave" is a friggen hot piece of eye candy and the song, though really different from her previous top 40 pop singles, is pretty great for a dancehall tune, Britney Spears appears like she has much to say about nothing. This more funk-infused disc is pretty good and a full-listen, and it's amazing to see how she's grown.

Her Best....,

I have all four of Britney's albums, well five if you consider her Greatest's Hits an album. I still think "Britney," this album is the best. All of the singles from the album were great, "I'm A Slave For You," "Overprotected," "Not A Girl, Not Yet a Woman," and "Boys." But I was really surprised that "Anticipating," "Lonley," or even "Let Me Be" weren't singles because they were really good Britney tracks. There aren't any "filler" songs on the album....well I guess "I Love Rock and Roll," is....to be honest not a fan of that remake anywyas, but truthfully every other song is awesome!!! This is definatly Britney's best album......a must buy for a Britney fan....if you want to buy just one britney album...buy this one first!! And you'll be hooked for life.

(OMG! This is my first review!!!)
Britney may not be Britney Spears' most successful album, but it's her most (dare I say) critically acclaimed. I do however, have a couple of gripes. The ballad (there is only one present with the exception of "That's Where You Take Me") here isn't one of the main attractions like Sometimes or When Your Eyes Say It in her previous albums. I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman will probably grow on you more than likely if you force yourself to listen to it more than once or twice. But to the average listener, it may come of as a little too cheesy. Another gripe is the lack of a standout single. ...Baby One More Time, Toxic, and Oops!...I Did It Again stand at a gargantuan height above the rest of the songs on their accompanies albums. That isn't the case here. Then again, the album is consistent, a strength previous albums by Britney, lacked. When its all said and done, this album is one of Britney's finest moments. She evolves as an artist by exhibiting her songwriting as well as focusing on her sexuality. The songs on the album are generally more sharper and the arrangements have a sonic twinkle to them. And while it may not be my favorite album by Britney, I can't deny that it one of her best. 1. "Slave 4 U" - Thumping exotic beats, SEXY! It sounds so different from anything she's done, awesome song. 9/10 2. "Overprotected" - It's "in your face" feel and powerhouse chorus gives it away, an obvious Max Martin produced track. Kinda catchy, I like the message more than the song itself, lol. 7/10 3. "Lonely" - A fan favorite, that shows a lot of edge and shows an angry side of Britney but pops out once the chorus starts. There's a little rap in the bridge and surprisingly it doesn't come off corny. A very good listen that shows lots of attitude. 8/10 4. "Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" - Cheesy yes, but its a point in every girl's life that we all can relate too (well at least the girls anyway). The lyrics are reflective and gives us a small insight on the real Britney (at that stage of her life that is). 6.5/10 5. "Boys" - Born from the snore that was Not A Girl. Boys opens with a funky beat and slightly erotic lyrics provided by the Neptunes. This has a very good bridge, and it's an excellent song to dance to. 6. "Anticipating" - Neo disco!!! A great addition to the album. 9/10 7. "I Love Rock N' Roll" - Cover of the Joan Jett classic. Kinda unnecessary addition. 3/10 8. "Cinderella" - Brit returns to her roots of super pop. Sounds like a leftover from Oops! era. 8/10 9. "Let Me Be Me" - Awesome beat, great vocals. . .but a mediocre song. 5/10 10. "Bombastic Love" - One of my favorites. I love it! Dangerously catchy. 8.5/10 11. "That's Where You Take Me" - One of my favorite songs on the album. A highly energized ballad that shows a gentle side of Britney. 9.5/10 12. "What It's Like To Be Me" - I wish the album would have ended with track #11, this song is comepletely disposable. Overall = 8/10

My honest opinion,

Britney's new album is just a tad bit old.. Okay I have agreed with people before, but this is where I have to draw the line.. Despite the first single "I'm A Slave 4 U", the rest of the album goes back in time to "Baby One More Time" and "Oops I Did It Again". Maybe it's the old cliche of the Max Martin/Rami production team. Not to put down their work, I am sure they are talented and they have come out with some good songs, but the style is becoming boring. Anyone on the planet can identify that same beat just by a few listens. I do take my hat off to them on "Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman". It is probably the only song on the album I can stand listening to, and that's not saying much. "Bombastic Love" is nerve cringing! It is just awful. This goes back to the likes of "Soda Pop". Another throw away track that somehow made it onto the album. A Majority of the album is up tempo and bouncy. The cover version of Joan Jett's classic hit, was poorly done. For the simple reason, Britney just does not have the vocal grit to pull it off. This styling is completely foreign to the teen-pop diva. She'd do better constantly singing something along the lines of "Baby Baby oh Baby Baby"... Although not a devastating album (I have seen my share of those), it just isn't impressive enough in my humble opinion to be anything more of a success than her previous work.

My 10 year old loves Britney. I bought her the new CD and was very disappointed with the lyrics. They are too suggestive. I would like to warn other parents that this CD crosses the line. If you are buying this for a child, you might want to think twice.

Unsatisfying, her Worst album,
This review is from: Britney (Audio CD)
Okay, let me say this right up front, I am a Britney fan. She has some really catchy songs, nothing that will go down in history, but they are fun. This is almost unlistenable and I'm really sorry I bought it. The problem is with the production, I think, because the beats and stuff just sound lame.

Hey, I bought this CD the day it came out!! I love it!! Here's my review of each song:1. I'm a Slave 4 U- This was a great song to choose for her first single, but I hate the music video!! It's kind of funky sounding, I'm never heard a song like it before. 8.5/10 2. Overprotected- My absolute favorite song on the album!! Her enhanced cd with a concert performance w/ outtakes from her movie Crossroads is awesome!! This song has a great sound, and I heard that this song is her 3rd single, it'll definitely be a hit!! 10/10 3. Lonely- I love the way she's telling that boy how it is in this song, it's a great message!! It's a very fast and upbeat song, great to dance to! 8/10 4. I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman- Her only ballad on the album, and her second single. Her voice has really matured since her ,,,Baby One More Time days!! She can really carry out those notes!! This is my twin sister's favorite song. I saw a preview of the music video, and it looks awesome!! 10/10 5, Boys- Very catchy song!! I love the chorus. Not the greatest song on the album though, 7/10 6. Anticipating- This a very sweet song, with like an 80-ish sound. It's also a good song to dance too. 9/10 7. I Love Rock and Roll- I am loving this song! It's a great cover, much better that I Can't Get No Satisfaction!! This is a great song to blast on your CD player..I have several times, and it's driving my parents crazy!! LOL, 9.5/10 8. Cinderella- Good song, but not my favorite. Kinda weird.7.5/10 9. Let Me Be- This is a cool song w/ Britney declaring her independence. It's also on the On The Line soundtrack. Good song, but gets annoying after awhile. 8/10 10. Bombastic Love- Reminds me of her old days, with bubblegum pop. Cute song though. 8.5/10 11. That's Where You Take Me- I like this song a lot!! It's a lot like Sometimes. It's a good song for couples. 9/10 12. What It's Like to Be Me- My least favorite song on the album, it's weird....in a bad way!! Her voice sounds horrible. 4/10 Go out and buy this CD, I love it!! I hope my review helped u!!

Honestly, not bad at all--fun pop album.,
This review is from: Britney (Audio CD)
Britney Spears's third studio-recorded album, appropriately titled 'Britney', is actually not bad at all, as some would believe. Britney even co-wrote much of the music on this album and some of the songs get very personal. Here is the album's track listings:1.) "I'm A Slave 4 U" ~ funky, upbeat song. I like it! Keeps you moving on the dance floor. 4/5 stars 2.) "Overprotected" ~ the DarkChild remix is actually better, but this song is still very catchy and great for dancing. 5/5 stars 3.) "Lonely" ~ not one of my favorites. OK upbeat song, but kind of strange. 3/5 stars 4.) "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" ~ one of my favorite Britney ballads. Think she can't sing? Just listen to this song! 5/5 stars 5.) "Boys" ~ fun dance song! Love it, especially the song's topic! (lol) 5/5 stars 6.) "Anticipating" ~ great R&B-sounding dance song. One of my favorites. 5/5 stars 7.) "I Love Rock 'N' Roll" ~ cool remake of the classic Joan Jett song. Very cool beat. 5/5 stars 8.) "Cinderella" ~ another one of my favorites. Like the beat and the lyrics. 5/5 stars 9.) "Let Me Be" ~ an OK upbeat song. 3/5 stars 10.) "Bombastic Love" ~ catchy, upbeat song. It's different, but I like it. 4/5 stars 11.) "That's Where You Take Me" ~ a good slower song, not exactly a ballad, but slower than most of the other songs. 3/5 stars 12.) "What It's Like To Be Me" ~ the song written by Justin Timberlake and Wade Robinson. OK, but I don't really like Justin. It would've sounded better without him. 3/5 stars Like I said before, Britney's third album is a pretty awesome one. Britney's voice works well with the songs she is given. She's a great performer and deserves way more credit than what she gets. I highly recommend 'Britney', by Britney Spears. Score:

Another Yawner,

Once again, Britney has unleashed her tedious muck upon the world. No doubt every 9-12 year old girl with hormone problems will desire to own this one, plus its companions in the upcoming merchandising campaign. At least it has educational value--At least this way, our young future women will know how to behave like (...). I don't have any particular problem with Ms. Spears, and this is because my problem is with the music, which she has absolutely nothing to do with. If there were actual instruments on her albums, they might be bearable, but they are merely an incessant cascade of bleeps and bloops and electronically synthesized mediocrity.
