This is the fictional story of Sorrel Kingaby, the oldest daughter of Josiah --- who wanted a son. Told in five parts, The first is told by her aunt who was there at here birth and through her childhood until Sorrel inherits her father estate. Part two is told by an employee who she becomes attracted to, but.... nothing is simple. Part three is told by a smuggler that comes to Sorrel as a partner. Part four is told by a VERY jealous, angry in-law. The last part, more of an epilogue is told by a stranger long after her death, who hears of the life that Sorrel lived.
