Editorial Reviews

Review

Andrew Britton was, and remains, quite simply, the greatest film critic in the English language. But he was not, like Hawks s monster from outer space, an 'intellectual carrot.' His greatness lies as much in his humanity as in his intelligence. --Robin Wood, from the Introduction

Book Description

Collects all published film criticism by Andrew Britton, a singular voice in film studies whose promising career was cut short by his untimely death.

Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
The film criticism of Andrew Britton is by turns wondrously insightful and infuriatingly ideological. He can brilliantly skewer academic cant in one passage and in another indulge in it himself.

He's worth reading for the brilliant stuff, however -- a very important critic who will get you thinking.
