The sixth sweet, thrilling book in the New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling Weekday Brides series from Catherine Bybee.

Book Description

The first novel in The Reach Series - A Broad Reach tells the story of Paul Armstrong. Staggered by the back-to-back fatalities of both his high-flying development company and his marriage, he picks up the pieces of his broken life and sets his course through the dusty mountain trails of Washington’s Pasayten Wilderness to a small island in the Caribbean.
Can a corporate hotshot throw in the towel and be happy playing guitar at a beach bar? Knocked down once, will Paul be ready for love this time around? Flush with great characters, laugh-out-loud humor and unexpected twists and turns, Paul’s story reminds the reader that it’s never too late to shake things up and start over.

Everything always works out in the end. If it hasn’t worked out . . . then it’s not the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fast-paced Adventure September 3, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
A Broad Reach is a fast-paced novel with interesting characters, a myriad of locations, a variety of emotions, and surprising twists. That is what makes it an entertaining novel. Its short-chapter format makes the book convenient to read anytime, anywhere and impossible to put down. Protagonist Paul's journey through mid-life may be fictitious, but it could be real and, like life, is filled with the unexpected. And that is something to which we all can relate.

5.0 out of 5 stars We need more USVI literature! June 2, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Ok - this beach read may not be the next Tolstoy - but it certainly is a fun time while enjoying the sun, rum, and sand! I found the style to improve throughout - as truly a first novel will do! Although I really dislike the Claire character, and wish a bit less of a pot plot, the overall story is enjoyable and I agree that moving from rainy Seattle to sunny St. Croix is a brilliant move for Paul! I look forward to the next install!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a MUST READ September 6, 2012

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Extremely entertaining and very well written, A Broad Reach has that rare combination of fiction and reality; you feel as if you are there with the characters experiencing extraordinary events. While reading you feel the emotions of each character and the descriptions of the setting are so real you can picture it as you progress. I found this book difficult to put down- I wanted to keep reading and find out what would happen next. Buy this book, you will not be disappointed. It deserves wide circulation.A Broad Reach (Volume 1)

4.0 out of 5 stars a great Summer Read August 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Are you after a quick read with an amazing narrator, then this is for you. As soon as I picked up this book, I was unable to set it down till I had read it all the way to the very end. I think all of us can relate to Paul's story on some level. We all have had moments where things have not turned out as we had hoped and planned for, and, or have lost everything and are at a crossroad in life. We experience this through Paul's story and his amazing open-ness to what the universe has to offer. And, that adage, "life happens when you are not looking" is the true essence of this book.
Great heartfelt read!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Well written with interesting and varied characters April 23, 2014
Picked this up while in St Croix for some beach reading. Thoroughly enjoyed it (as I did the island itself). Interesting cast of characters, various locations and settings, twists and turns. It is only at the "ending" that I fully came to the realization that this is but "Volume1" of a three book series. The final paragraphs are a prelude to the next installment and are a far cry from an actual conclusion. Will need to buy the next two volumes...."stay tuned........same time, same channel".

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful first novel! August 18, 2012
Myrvang has opened a promising writing career with a bang. He entices the reader through a wide range of geographical and psychological territory with rich descriptions of the Pacific Northwest and the Caribbean Islands and penetrating explorations of the main characters. He has the human pysche clearly in his bombsights. A very satisfying read; one that defies putting down before the shocking ending. A prequel to a sequel, we hope.
