Bud's experience served in major network designs from Local Area Networks (LANs) to Wide Area Networks (WANs) using high-quality, all-digital transmission services: T1, T3, and SONET/SDH. His studies and recommendations resulted in significant financial savings. One project included the design and implementation of a Frame Relay network that spanned over 14 countries and 80 locations. This project resulted in huge monthly savings while preseving subsecond response times across the network.
His articles have been published in Network World, Information Week, International Journal of Information Management, and others. He has authored numerous books published by McGraw-Hill and Artech House. His recent published books Voice and Data Communications, Fourth Edition; GPRS, and Optical Switching and Networking continue to fall on McGraw-Hill's bestseller list. Bud also develops and conducts various public seminars throughout the world, ranging from a managerial overview to very technical instruction on voice, data, and LAN communications. He spends must of his time working with the major telecommunications manufacturers in training their staff members on the innovations of technology and the convergence of voice and data networks for the future. Many of his materials are used throughout the higher education institutions in certification and graduate-level classes in telecommunications management.

Author's Comments,
This review is from: Broadband Telecommunications Handbook (McGraw-Hill Telecommunications) (Paperback)
Hello folks:I wanted to take just a few moments to discuss this book before you choose to purchase it. The reason I wrote this book is because in the past everyone has been yakking about broadband communications. However, the discussions always led to one topic (usually one that the people had a vested interest in such as a manufacturer). As a result no one talked about broadband in what is it? What will it do for me? and How much will it cost me? So I took it upon myself to do the digging on the topic. Not all of the subjects are fully broadband, but they compliment or complete the puzzle in a broadband network (like the SS7 and AIN sections) There are many ways to look at a network, this is my version of all the components that combine to make up the best networks in the world. So read this for the merit is offers, a discussion of the technologies, not some engineering techno-babble. Use the book as a desktop reference on how and why things work the way the do, not for a series of mathematical equations that you find in other works. Find the application, then match the application to a technology. Thanks for reading this comment section and thanks to all of you who continue to show your support and e-mails to me. I really hope that I can make a difference in your eductaion and growth in the Telecommunications industry. Bud

This review is from: Broadband Telecommunications Handbook (McGraw-Hill Telecommunications) (Paperback)
I read and review dozens of technology books for my TrainingCity.com classes every year, and I only recommend a small percentage of them. Broadband Telecommunications Handbook is among the best. It's the perfect resource for individuals who need a clear and concise explanation of the technologies encountered in the field every day.The book gets to the heart of modern WAN technologies and explains concepts such as T1 AMI vs. HDSL in an extraordinarily clear and easy to understand manner. Very few authors have this ability to explain technologies in a way that can be understood by both engineers and non-engineers alike. In conclusion, Broadband Technologies Handbook deserves a place in your resource library today.
