Editorial Reviews

Review

"A wake-up call for old hands and a how-to manual for beginners. It's the book I wish I'd had in my hand 20 years ago." Carolyn Brown, Radio Four

"Jenni's guidance helped transform the way I communicate on TV. She understands the secrets that make the best presenters sound so effective -
and she can pass them on to you." Carenza Lewis, TV Presenter (Time Team)

"People imagine a good voice is God-given and can't be taught - but the sessions I had with Jenni were real ear-openers. She taught me how to achieve all the qualities I most admired in other people's voices - musicality, dramatic impact, intimacy and naturalness. Get hold of this book before your colleagues' bad habits get hold of you!"
Winifred Robinson, Presenter, You and Yours, Radio Four

"It's written by a real pro. Inspirational material communicated in an engaging, down to earth way." Andrew Edwards, Presenter and Lecturer in Broadcast Journalism

"A much-needed and long-overdue book. I want to buy it now please!" Paul Chantler, Radio Programming Consultant

"This book is a welcome publication in a dearth of material on voice-training for broadcasters." The Radio Journal

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book, for beginners and professionals alike, April 25, 2010
This review is from: The Broadcast Voice (Paperback)
Whether you're already in the media industry or want to break into this competitive field, I'd recommend Jenni's book. It's full of practical advice about how you can get the best possible results out of the voice you've been given. As Jenni says in her preface "there's no such thing as a bad broadcasting voice; only people who are using their voices badly". I've worked in radio for many years, as well as teaching radio courses, and I've learnt heaps from Jenni's book. The exercises are helpful and the accompanying CD, with examples of good and bad voice use, really helps to make things clear. If you're serious about developing your voice, this is the book for you.
