5.0 out of 5 stars Nina Simone BBB, September 2, 2009

Before we got married, my wife and me got the habbit of listen to music-lp's. One of our favorites was (as you can guess) Nina Simone. As we are married some 40 years now, and our children are not living with us anymore, we can make time for our hobby: listening to the music. But.... our recordplayer was not available, as it was gone defect, and we now have (of course) a dvd/cd player. But nowhere we could find a musicstore that could deliver us that old lp-record in the new dvd/cd version. We are glad, that our youngest son gave us the "amazon.com" link, and now we can enjoy our daily BBB by Nina.

5.0 out of 5 stars Among the best of the best, January 9, 2012
This review is from: Broadway Blues Ballads (Audio CD)
WARNING: If you can, find the vinyl LP. The order of play has been changed on the CD. Not much, but enough. Normally this is not a big deal, but think about a re-ordered Sgt Pepper, or Layla and Other Love Songs without Thorn Tree in the Garden after Layla. This is maybe Simone's best album, and in part that's because of the amazing order of play on Side 1 of the LP. But ... if you have to get the CD, you're still left with Simone at her absolute best, including versions of "Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" and "Something Wonderful" that will make your heart break. And don't sit down and listen to "Nobody" when you're crazy drunk and lonely, or your blubbering will water down your beer. What an amazing roller-coaster of an album, all in that beautiful dark voice of Nina Simone.
