Hairspray hits the right sound,

This review is from: Sing The Broadway Musical HAIRSPRAY (2-Disc Karaoke CDG) (Audio CD)
This kind of double disc is excellent for learners to get all the rhythms of a song and Hairspray's track sounds good even if one performer is a little shrilly. If you are looking for an audition version some of these are perfect.

Pros and cons of "Hairspray: The Musical" on Stage Stars,

This is a Stage Stars Disk set. One disk is the full cover of each song, and the other CD+G style. I'm giving this only a 3 because, as one problem I have with the Stage Stars Disks (Manufacturer ID is STS) is with the CD+G disks there are sometimes backing vocals and sometimes there aren't. This set does not have the backing vocals. These disks is also not multiplex disk (vocals on a channel you can shut off), which makes doing duets difficult if you are soloing. Many to most of these songs are duets. The other issue STS disks have are sometimes there are no graphics on screen, (Phantom of the Opera is a good example), and sometimes there are on screen lyrics. This set does have graphics on both disks, which makes it easy to learn the songs and is always a plus in my book. Sound quality is excellent, nothing sounds midi or computerized. Remembering back, it sounds like everything is in the right key and correct song length, but haven't seen the movie in a long time so I'm a little unsure on this.

Not really good,

It's a good effort, but compared to the official karaoke versions you can find on the official 2 cds Collector's Edition Soundtrack, it's just no good. The only good thing is that the voices are accurate and on time, which is good to practice. But come on, we've all got enough of low quality karaoke adaptations. Here there is no good orchestration, and no musician "expressing" the music. Everything's flat, and I really don't recommend that CD for any other use than a late night party. Best, Nicolas.
