Excellent Heater. I installed one in bathroom about 8 years ago. Heater still works great. Thermostat is fairly consistant. Must be cleaned regularly. That is the secret to keeping it working satisfactorily.

Started out by replacing a toilet and ended up with a new floor and a new heater. And other things. The Nautilus was a good style and fit for what I was dealing with. It is quiet and provides more than enough heat for any bathroom. The thermostat works properly and the style is unobstrusive.

It is easy to access the wiring and to take out the innards so that you have access to mount the box in different ways (not all installations are new construction as you may know!). This also makes it easy to service it and I was happy that it came with a parts diagram, always a good sign.

I found it to be a good and thoughtful design for a decent price. It is recommended.

If you are looking for a heater fan unit that replaces your old Broan heater, this is it.
This heater fan is an exact match to its decades old product.
It fit the existing opening within a sixteenth of an inch.
However if you are looking for an improved product, this is not it.
It has the same loud fan noise as the old one.
It will require the same periodic cleaning to keep it running.
It will need to be removed annually to be cleaned and oiled.

For the price it is a good product and will last ten to fifteen years, but if want a quiet heater, pay moe and buy a unit with a better fan.

My husband installed this in a 8 by 5 ft room with toilet and shower. Now it's warm and toasty when I come out of the shower; heats up nicely from the regular room temp of about 68, so that shaving my legs is not a 'drafty project' in winter!

its almost an year, works just great, i wish i had purchased the one with timer to shut off in configurable minutes, depending on who is in the shower ;-)

I've bought these Broan heaters before. This site had the best price and they shipped it out promptly. I'd do business with them again.

This was a replacement for the identical heater which I had for at least 15 years. We installed it originally when we did a bathroom remodel (you need to tear into the wall). I like it because it is not in the middle of the room and it kicks out the right amount of heat for my So. Calif climate. Replacement was a breeze.

I bought this heater to replace an old wall mounted bath heater. When I received the heater and read the installation directions it said very clearly and in capital letter not to install it in anything but a horizontal position. Yes, a horizontal position is shown in the photo, but nowhere in the Amazon product description did it state that the heater is to be installed in ONLY the position as shown. There wasn't a place on the returns drop down list that fit my reasoning for sending it back other than Did Not Want, so I ended up paying $13 to send it back.

FYI, this heater is not be installed in the vertical position per manufacturer directions inside box. Maybe that will save some folks the return postage.

Took about 2 hours to wire in and install with a digital timer switch... left the wiring in 120V 1500 watt, and it produces a great amount of heat for the bathroom. Just installed today so can't say how long it will last, but, at $70 or so, you can replace just the inards pretty easily, no need to replace the frame and electrical...

This is the first replacement for the Broan 174. The previous unit lasted for over fifteen years before finally failing after heavy use in the primary bathroom. It is a solid, durable product as is most of Broan's line.
