Broan's Quiet Hood Convertible Range Hood has a patented air chamber design that significantly reduces noise up to 40 percent over comparable, conventional hoods. Features include: Three ducting options: 3.25-Inch by 10-Inch, horizontal or vertical discharge; 7-Inch round, vertical discharge or Non-ducted, using BPQTF filter (sold separately). Infinite, rotary speed control offers quiet fan operation. Rotary light control. Two, 40-Watt, Type A-15 appliance bulbs provide bright cook top lighting (bulbs not included). Translucent, polymeric light lens- easily removed for relamping. Convenient night light. Thermally-protected, plug-in motor. Electronically-balanced, polymeric fan blade. Washable aluminum mesh grease filter. Optional non-ducted filter (BPQTF) for particulates and odor removal. Keyhole mounting slots for easy installation. Powder-coated, baked enamel finish. UL listed and CSA certified.

Personally, if i had to do it again I would have gone for a different range. The only reason I picked this one was due to size contraints...It looks kind of cheap, the metal is thin and flimsy and even with dual dampers the cold air still rushes in. The unit arrived with a piece loose in the box, which broke due to being jostled around. And the sheet metal used to fabricate it wasnt completely tight and when the unit is on, the metal flaps back and forth making ALOT of noise. I think its 40% louder because of it! I just dont feel like dealing with sending it back and getting another one, and then have the same issue repeat...we just jerry rigged it to fix SOME of the issues....over all I am disappointed. If I had to do over I would get a Zephyr.

This product is supposed to be a "quiet" model yet there is "hum" or "buzz" (probably the transformer for variable speed fan) underlying the fan noise regardless of what speed the fan is adjusted to. I would return this product if not for the inconvenience and the fact that my contractor disgarded the packaging.

Product much quieter than previous hood. Now I can hear the TV in the other room and use the fan more often. On low it is almost silent! Cost double what loud fans cost but well worth the money.
