Personally, if i had to do it again I would have gone for a different range. The only reason I picked this one was due to size contraints...It looks kind of cheap, the metal is thin and flimsy and even with dual dampers the cold air still rushes in. The unit arrived with a piece loose in the box, which broke due to being jostled around. And the sheet metal used to fabricate it wasnt completely tight and when the unit is on, the metal flaps back and forth making ALOT of noise. I think its 40% louder because of it! I just dont feel like dealing with sending it back and getting another one, and then have the same issue repeat...we just jerry rigged it to fix SOME of the issues....over all I am disappointed. If I had to do over I would get a Zephyr.

This product is supposed to be a "quiet" model yet there is "hum" or "buzz" (probably the transformer for variable speed fan) underlying the fan noise regardless of what speed the fan is adjusted to. I would return this product if not for the inconvenience and the fact that my contractor disgarded the packaging.

Product much quieter than previous hood. Now I can hear the TV in the other room and use the fan more often. On low it is almost silent! Cost double what loud fans cost but well worth the money.

Just got this range hood (branded as a 'Kenmore', but looks exactly the same)...

Pros:
-variable speed fan (not just low and high speed)
-good looks
-strong enough to move some air on high

Cons:
-Really annoying buzz from the motor (tranformer?) at any speed.
(we had a more expensive model that didn't fit, and that motor was perfectly quiet on low...although it only had high and low speed, and the high speed sounded like a jet engine)

The noise is a bummer, other than that, it's good.

This was easy enough to install. the construction is such that there is an annoying rattle when we turn on the fan. not a great hood but it was the only one that really worked for our space and requirements (no direct vent, no halogen bulbs).

This is a great stove hood, very quiet, easy to install and a nice update to a kitchen. The price on Amazon was lower than any big box store for this quality.

The unit looks great: stainless steel and black. The installation instructions describes this hood as the "Quiet Hood". It is anything but. When the fan starts up, it has a tinny, raspy quality about it that surprises you, like it is made of thin metal. We installed the fan with a rear, rectangular vent. The baffle plate appears to leak air through the front grill. We like the "night light" feature, and the full strength light is quite adequate.

The range hood was delivered quickly and undamaged. The fan works well. The product information on this range hood states the fan can be unplugged (for cleaning) however, the fan cannot be unplugged! Otherwise the product and quality of the range hood is what was expected.

I recommend this range hood. It looks good, and it's pretty quiet. It works quickly (my last one took a long time to get going,) and I love that it has a variable fan setting and two light settings. I bought the charcoal filter for it, and it fits well.

Installed this ourselves in existing opening limited by granite backsplash. Fairly easy installation in 1992 kitchen. Matches Kitchenaid stainless well. Great lighting. Starts our fairly soft but seems to get louder if left on high for 5-10 minutes. Well worth the money and completes our stainless replacements.
