Broan Ultra-Silent Bathroom Fan

Controls moisture and odors in the bathroom without excessive noise or energy use.
Energy Efficient Solution in a Traditional Design
A bath fan needn't call attention to itself, either by its loud operating noise or obtrusive design. More importantly, it shouldn't call attention to itself on your electric bill. As part of Broan's QTRE line, this fan is built to provide energy efficient, ultra-quiet operation in high-traffic bathrooms. It's also ideal for those seeking a fan with a more traditional design that won't overpower their current decor.

Benefits of Bathroom Ventilation Fans
Fans like the Broan Ultra-Silent Bathroom Fan improve air quality by removing odors, while also eliminating moisture and decreasing overall humidity levels. This prevents damage to building materials, and also prevents mold and mildew growth.

Powerful Motor for Continuous Operation
UL-listed, the Broan Bathroom Fan is designed to be used over bathtubs or showers when connected to a GFCI protected branch circuit. Its motor is engineered for continuous operation, making it both reliable and powerful. Thanks to the included hanger bars, this fan is fast and easy to install in all types of construction.

Energy Star RatedEnergy Star Rated for Energy Savings
Each fan is Energy Star rated, which means it carries the trusted, government-backed symbol for energy efficiency. Energy Star rated products use less energy, save money, and help protect the environment. Investing in these products is a smart choice that's not only good for the Earth, but can also reduce your utility costs.

The Broan Ultra-Silent Bathroom Fan is backed by a manufacture's three-year warranty.

Installed one is a condo I owned several years ago and was very pleased. Recently purchased newer condo and the builder-grade fans were very noisy and didn't move much air. After a shower, the bathroom was dense with water vapor and the mirror had condensation on it. Broan has designed this model to be an easy replacement although you will need to make the ceiling opening larger. But the electrical connection and transition to the existing exhaust venting is pretty simple. And the best part is that these fans are very quiet! Now when done showering, the room is clear and there is no condensation on the mirror. Should note, however, that you need to be careful how you attach the fan to an existing joist. Best to run the fan while securing the fan so that you can apply just the right amount of tension to get the quietist possible mounting.

We replaced a builder installed fan that sounded like a motor boat, and bought this fan as it was advertised as the most quiet and less "sones" than the others. From what I understand 1 sone should be equivalent to about 40 decibels. Well I measured our decibal level and it is 65-70 which is still pretty loud. It is marginally quieter than our previous fan but we are very disappointed in the sound level. I don't see how they can advertise "whisper quiet". We have the fan in the toilet closet with high ceilings.

GREAT! Installed in existing 5'x9'2 bathroom used often, no steam from shower. Cut 3-4" additional gyp. board at exhaust length to retrofit.

I used this model to replace the cheap, noisy, smaller builder-grade fans in 2 upstairs bathrooms. Installing this fan would be easy in new construction, but I learned 2 things when replacing an existing fan:

1. I needed to get into the attic to replace the old vent pipe with a 3-inch vent, to screw the new fan to the rafter and to make the electrical connection.

2. I had to cut the ceiling sheetrock to make an opening big enough to slide the new fan into place. This left a small gap between the ceiling sheetrock and the body of the fan (in new construction, the ceiling sheetrock would have been installed after the fan was in place and there would be no gap). The gap was covered by the fan's louvered trim cover, but blown-in insulation in the attic found its way to the gap and through the louvers. Having access to the attic allowed me to put bat insulation around the unit to keep the loose insulation away.

This was installed by my contractor during a recent remodel of a bathroom. I heard no complaints about the installation, and it has performed as I anticipated. The real test will come in later months when hot showers and cold temps create lots of steam that needs to be exhausted. This is the second of this series that I have used in our bathrooms.

We installed this fan in our upstairs bathroom. We tested it when we first got it fixed to the ceiling joists and wired. It was very quiet. So nice. But then we attached the vent pipe and piped it out the side of the house. It is only a six foot run, one 45 degree turn and one 90. Suddenly the fan rattled and groaned as if it were 30 years old. We ended up taking out the internal flap and are trusting the wimpy little external vent flaps to stop back drafts in the winter. That helped the noise. But it is still disappointingly fragile sounding with some rattles and speed variations. Two stars.

We live in an old house and had extremely old fans. Such old fans that about their only useful function was making noise so all of those embarassing bathroom noises couldn't be heard by family or friends in the adjacent room (since, of course, our old house doesn't have any insulation). Anyways, these fans move a ridiculous amount of air and are very quiet. You can tell that they are on, but they don't any of those annoying things such as a high pitched hum or vibrating.

Installation: I paid a friend to help me install the fans since I am not handy at all. However, after watching him install the first fan, I could have installed the second one. The installation is very simple and straight forward though I would recommend a friend with handyman skills if you are like myself.

I would recommend these fans to any one needing to upgrade their bathroom fans or searching for fans for a new house.
