Having read the other review for this item, I already knew the damper was gravity assisted rather than spring loaded, but I assumed there would at least be a bird screen. We ended up having to add our own screen and securing it with aluminum tape inside the duct. For over $50 I didn't expect to have to modify the item. At least the appearance of the wall cap is decent.

Knowing what I know now, I would have purchased a vent hood with a lower airflow rate and smaller diameter duct work so that I would have more choices of wall caps.

I haven't installed this yet, but just so everybody knows, this thing doesn't have a spring. Not a big deal, but it works on gravity alone. Otherwise, workmanship looks fine, open/close action is fine, and there's a strip of foam around the door on the inside.
