More About the Author

Joe Boyle was born in Fleetwood on the northwest coast of Lancashire, UK to an Irish father (hence the name) and an English mother, and grew up in less-than-salubrious surroundings leaving school at 15 and becoming apprenticed to a decorating firm.
Having been saddled with a restless and enquiring mind, and a desire for attention, he moved into the world of entertainment and forced himself upon unsuspecting audiences for several years, managing to make a number of television appearances and dredging the cabaret circuits of the UK.
Writing came next (tucking in nicely around a degree in education and a teaching career) and his work somehow 'cut the mustard' on a number of 'classic' comedy and drama productions for the BBC and ITV channels.
His sitcom 'Help!' - two series 1987 and 1988 - gained 10 million viewers on it's first outing. He knows this 'cos he got 10 million letters from viewers asking when it was going to finish.
Musical theatre took up a couple of years of his time, until his first novel 'BROG THE STOOP' was published by Scholastic followed by a second novel 'THE YEAR OF THE PHIAL' one year later.
There's an interesting story concerning the conception of 'BROG' which he is willing to tell to anyone who'll listen (and often to those who don't want to).
As we write he is living in utter poverty in Spain as an artist with the Light of his Life, Lesley, who has put up with him for nearly 50 years.
The sequel to BROG - 'BROG 2 - RETRIBUTION', a mere 20 years late, is due to appear on Amazon Kindle early in October 2013. If you liked the first one, this will blow your ears inside out.

I found a very unusual book on Amazon within seconds of searching for it as I was told about it by the Author. It was written by my good old Art school teacher/headmaster Mr. Boyle so I am so excited to read it. The book came to me within about a week all the way from UK to Colorado, US. I was so excited as the price was so cheap and the book was in perfect condition. In fact excellent condition. This was an all round great experience with this vendor. I am just so happy to find it. Amazon please have it loaded into Kindle for all to read online!

I'll admit I have not read this book for a very long time, so I gave it 3 stars, but it may be worth even more.

I remember it being one of my favourite books ever when I was 12.

It's a beautiful fantasy with inventive characters and an engaging story. I recommend.
