We live in a RV Coach and I love to cook. Space is sometimes a problem, so I have used many different types of coil burnes, but this one is the best. With an adjustable leg it allows for a level large base cooking element for many different sizes of pots or pans. Also, unlike others I have used, when you set it to a temperature it stays constant at that temp. till I adjust it up or down. Great product.

I have had this for two weeks. It may be defective and I am considering returning it. When set at "Low", it burns things. When set just below "Low" it barely keeps things warm and doesn't cook.

It would be better if the red light were on only when the unit is on, not just plugged in. It is already obvious that the unit is plugged in but the slightest jar to the dial will turn it on and that may not be obvious(a click stop for "Off" would be a useful feature). I would recommend not buying this over-priced, under-performing product.

This product has gone up in price since I originally bought it in June of 2006.

It has several design flaws but given the original price and the fact that it actually worked I was happy with the purchase.

It is now May of 2007 and the thing no longer works.

So I rate the product as OK and now consider it overpriced.

The price of this thing cannot be jusified. It looks nice. It even says "Made In USA". But it doesn't say where the heat control was made. That's the weak part. It is just a fancy on-off switch. It has a loose, imprecise feel. Mine began malfunctioning (heat on high with knob turned off) after about a year. A twelve dollar made in China unit would have done the same thing for less money.

New, improved, DIGITAL stove technology!!!! Off is off, lowest setting is non stop scorching full blast red hot. Impossible to cook with. Junk. This replaces my ten dollar target hot plate and the target plate was exactly the same way. Expected a lot more from 'professional' Broil King.

It is THE best hot plate I have ever bought. I got it to add a burner for canning. It is stable and heats very quickly.

I live alone, and recently built an apartment on my kid's property. I do not have a stove, and this is perfect for my needs. I had originally bought a cheap one, that took an hour to boil eggs. This is just like having a stove, with controllable temperatures. I would recommend this product to everyone.

I PURCHASED THE HOT PLATE FOR USE IN SMOKING FISH PER THE ALTON BROWN CARDBOARD SMOKER DIRECTIONS FROM FOOD CHANNEL. IT HAS PLENTY OF POWER & THE METAL CASE HELPS IN KEEPING IT CLEAN. WORKS LIKE A CHAMP!!

Excellent because: red light that stays on when plugged in (safety), large surface area to grab on to, fits well in most spaces, adjustable leg works as expected.

I bought this in 2005 for $35. Unlike other reviewers who review a product after they first get something, I always wait at least a year before I go into my order history to write my reviews because a product review is more dependable from someone who has had the product for more than a week.

I see that the price has went up on Amazon - well, as a rule of thumb, usually when that happens it means the product is worth buying, otherwise the price is usually lowered so that they get rid of whatever they have in stock.

As stated, I got this in 2005 for $35. I was living in a basement apartment and the landlord had disconnected the stove because the building inspector was coming or something. Anyway, I purchase this to do my occasional cooking (along with a mini George Foreman grill). I've used a medium sauce pan on it, a large skillet, a medium dutch-oven, and my mother has even cooked using a wok on it. That's right, a WOK! Heats up really fast - and as already stated, it's big enough to fit a flat-bottom wok on it.

I would recommend it for anybody who doesn't have a stove. I've never had any problems with it. I've sinced moved and got married with kids, and it still works - not that I need to use it anymore, but I turned it on just to see if it still works, and it does.
