"Broke Not Broken" by the Mother Truckers,
This review is from: Broke, not Broken (Audio CD)
This CD rocks from start to finish. It is one of the best in my entire music library, which is saying a lot because almost all of my CD's are very good! Every song is good, or better! The flow from one song to the next is really good, with excellent change of tempo. If you are into contemporary rockabilly/high energy country rock, this CD is a must-have. Even if you're not, I would highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates great music.

Gram Parsons for the 21st Century,
By Beegowl (San Antonio, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Broke Not Broken (Audio CD)
Teal Collins and Josh Zee are engaging and smart writers and singers. After seeing this group live at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, TX, I bought the CD immediately. You know how the great feeling you have when you see live music generates such enthusiasm that you just can't resist buying the CD? Then, the CD is disapppointing. Something is always missing. You can't quite put your finger on it, but it's not the same. Well, this CD does not disappoint. Whatever it is that generates that great feeling when you see these guys live is captured on this CD and I'm sure it has something to do with both the quality of writing and musicianship. These musicians are accomplished. Their lyrics are smart and insightful, the music is soulful, the harmonies are tight. I couldn't help but think of Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris when I heard Collins and Zee harmonizing. Then, Collins belts the Chris Smithers written "Love Me Like a Man" Bonnie Raitt classic done in a great Josh Zee guitar slinging arrangement. Their influences are right, and they take the genre to a new level. This is one of the best CDs I've heard in a long while. These folks deserve support.

Another Awesome CD!,
This review is from: Broke Not Broken (Audio CD)
Caught The Mother Truckers at The Continental Club in Austin, Texas. I have never been a great country fan other than Johnny Cash and a few others, but TMT became one of my favorite bands in a span of an hour and a half. Both Josh Zee and Teal Collins sing and play guitar. Zee is a "man's man" and Teal Collins was a woman I wanted to marry on the spot. Both have so much appeal and chemistry. Still today I don't know if I prefer the lyrics or the music. How they are not bigger than the world is beyond me. A great CD!!
