Book Description

Rune Blade Trilogy December 26, 1996
The Breaching of the Veil

A kidnapped Princess and a clanless man share a terrible secret--the dark powers of Maedun are preparing a new assault on the shinning Isle of Celi.

Using stolen Celae magic, the sorcerer Hakkar plans to rip down the veil of enchantment drawn about the island kingdom. Only the great sword Kingmaker can save the land. Until it, too, is shattered.

Brynda, daughter of Keylan, must teach her Rune Blade to sing death's song--or Maedun's Somber Riders will slain all Celi for their own!

About the Author

Ann Marston grew up back and forth across most of Canada, and now lives in Edmonton, Alberta. She has worked as a teacher, a flight instructor, an airline pilot and an airport manager and is deeply involved in her local Adult Literacy Project. She has two children, Laura who is a fourth generation pilot, and Daniel, who is a computer genius, and is currently owned by three cats, Pixel, Canrith Backspin, and Friend, who continually try to organize her but haven't quite succeeded. She writes fantasy because everyone knows pilots don't live in the real world anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding fantasy and a Celtic-lover's dreams on paper!, May 31, 1999
This review is from: Broken Blade (The Rune Blade Trilogy, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Call me a sucker for Celtic fantasy, but the visions and dreamwoven sequences in this trilogy has got me in Celtic-heaven. I have read all three books of the Rune Blade Trilogy and I have never been so caught in a set of books all my life. And just when I thought it was over, I encounter a fourth book which will start a brand new trilogy. I cannot wait to read it. "Kingmaker's Sword" got me completely wanting for more, "Western King" got me hopelessly caught and "Broken Blade" just kept me simply speechless with awe. Ispiration has never struck so deep of the times when kilts and clan badges were symbols of strength and when Dances on top of hills became alive with spiritual belief. The word trilogy has never invokes as much anticipation. We want more Miss Marston.

i enjoyed the book and the series immensly, however I thought that the ending left things unsaid and undone. hopefully Ann Marston will write a sequel series. that would really impress me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Standard, July 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Broken Blade (The Rune Blade Trilogy, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Entertaining, but the main failing of Broken Blade is that it is exactly like too many other sci-fi/fanatsy novels available today. Browsing through the sci-fi/fantasy section of a bookstore is bewildering - there are so many hundreds of books entitled "Dragonmaker", "Sword of Light", and such that you don't know where to turn. I've read too many other fantasy novels with plotlines and characters all extremely similar to this one. It was fairly enjoyable, but do yourself a favor and don't buy it. Check it out from the library.
