5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding fantasy and a Celtic-lover's dreams on paper!
Call me a sucker for Celtic fantasy, but the visions and dreamwoven sequences in this trilogy has got me in Celtic-heaven. I have read all three books of the Rune Blade Trilogy and I have never been so caught in a set of books all my life. And just when I thought it was over, I encounter a fourth book which will start a brand new trilogy. I cannot wait to read it...

Entertaining, but the main failing of Broken Blade is that it is exactly like too many other sci-fi/fanatsy novels available today. Browsing through the sci-fi/fantasy section of a bookstore is bewildering - there are so many hundreds of books entitled "Dragonmaker", "Sword of Light", and such that you don't know where to turn. I've read too many...

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding fantasy and a Celtic-lover's dreams on paper!, May 31, 1999
This review is from: Broken Blade (The Rune Blade Trilogy, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
I cannot wait to read it. "Kingmaker's Sword" got me completely wanting for more, "Western King" got me hopelessly caught and "Broken Blade" just kept me simply speechless with awe. Ispiration has never struck so deep of the times when kilts and clan badges were symbols of strength and when Dances on top of hills became alive with spiritual belief. The word trilogy has never invokes as much anticipation. We want more Miss Marston.

i enjoyed the book and the series immensly, however I thought that the ending left things unsaid and undone. hopefully Ann Marston will write a sequel series. that would really impress me.

Browsing through the sci-fi/fantasy section of a bookstore is bewildering - there are so many hundreds of books entitled "Dragonmaker", "Sword of Light", and such that you don't know where to turn. I've read too many other fantasy novels with plotlines and characters all extremely similar to this one. It was fairly enjoyable, but do yourself a favor and don't buy it. Check it out from the library.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great, January 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Broken Blade (The Rune Blade Trilogy, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book, the last in the Rune Blade Trilogy, is a satisfying conclusion to the series. After what I thought was a poor second novel, Marston is back to her best. This series is recommended, but know that when you read the first book you're reading the best one. Broken Blade is certainly interesting, and a fun read, but it lacks enough detail and depth. She could really do a lot more with these stories. Still, her works are enjoyable, and the world she has created is an interesting one, so I look forward to the next books set in the same world.

4.0 out of 5 stars A thoroughly entertaining read, July 12, 1998
This review is from: Broken Blade (The Rune Blade Trilogy, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoyed this book; in fact, the entire trilogy captured all my reading time, something unusual as I am usually reading a half dozen or more books at once. I found the series to be very well-written, with outstanding pacing that reminded me of Goodkind's Sword of Truth series.

I can't say that this is a hauntingly beautiful book, though. It's not one of those few (Tigana instantly comes to mind) that will linger on my mind forever. But I'm not sure I'd want all books to be like that. Instead, this trilogy is just tremendously great fun. If you buy them, be prepared to dive in and be entertained. You'll not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Broken Blade an excellent end to a thrilogy, April 20, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Broken Blade (The Rune Blade Trilogy, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
After searching for a new author following the arrival of J.V. Jones, Marston is a hit with her final volume of the three part Rune-Blade Trilogy. In the tradition of Rawn, Marston adds a unique perspective in fantasy by breathing life into her characters as Brynda finds her quest almost unbearable. Marston uses the language of magic to tie up the dynasty of Kian and Kerri as the Island of Ceri faces it's most dire challenge. For those who enjoyed Rawn, Marston is a treat

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed!, January 2, 2000

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Broken Blade (The Rune Blade Trilogy, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
I just have to say that I was disappointed with the conclusion of this trilogy. I bought all three books and expected to just read three books! It is a great story, but I just can't help feeling let down. I don't feel like there was any conclusions at all in this book considering it's the last in the trilogy. Now I have to get the next trilogy (was that the plan all along?) - and from what I can tell, only 2 books are out so far which means i have to wait for yet another series to finish - the reason I started this one is because I like finished series.

Probably my favorite thus far. Marston does a wonderful job with her characters, making them vivid and alive.Unlike some authors whose characters are one dimentional. Characters so well done that they "spill" into later books. Her books are always a joy to read, the only "fault" is that I wish she could write them even faster than she does!

5.0 out of 5 stars Objection!, October 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Broken Blade (The Rune Blade Trilogy, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
I would like to object to "A reader from N.Y." I can see how this book may seem like all the others, but can you imagine all the work that went into it? I would certainly like to see you write something in that much detail, and following along with all the Celtic feast, traditions, and all the other little tidbits that make this series great! I'm in the middle of writing something to the like myself, but I can't get ahold of any good sources for learning about the cultures! Well, I've said what I felt I had to. <PS> If you want to reply to this, email me, I won't be checking the reviews often.
