Created to Be,
By "ak941" (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Broken Folk (Audio CD)
Borrowing a phrase from the CD's last track, it's clear that Brian Webb was "created to be" a musical and poetic artist of profound and rare talent. He has a stark and vulnerable honesty about his lyrics and his music spans many genres, although his southern roots are never far from the surface. "Broken folk" will make you rethink God, love and life -but be warned, it's not for someone who is wary of introspection. You'll want to buy multiple copies to give to friends and family (I did!).

Seriously Groovin',

I never thought an acoustic record could be so funky. But it's not just funk for funk's sake. There is some serious depth here. A great record, on many levels. Highly Recommended.

Boy can move,
By Cindy (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews

Brian caught my attention about a year ago with his moving performance. Since then I feel as though I've enflicted a whole gaggle of people with his music. Everyone loves Brian, from the accordian playing science teacher to the Bright Eyes fan who hates folk music.

Timeless,
This review is from: Broken Folk (Audio CD)
I had a friend give me this CD about 7 years ago. I never gave it back. It went from my CD player to my MP3 player. I keep going back to this album. Each song is a stroke of genius - lyrically, musically and emotionally. Do yourself a favor and get this.

I have been listening to Brians music for the last 5 years now and never once have gotton tired of it. If anybody is looking for something differnt this is it. Brian is a truly gifted singer/songwriter. I think everybody should hear his music at least once. Brian is finally getting the publicity he deserves.

Amazing!,

I have never felt compelled to write a review for any artist UNTIL now! His songs are sooo powerful - makes you think about love and what love is and isn't. 'Shame', 'Walk Alone', 'Oh Lord' are some of the best tracks but basically every track makes you think! And he's even better live!

This isn't available through Amazon, but you can buy this and Brian Webb's 2004 album, "LIVE" through his website www.brian-webb.com or by going directly to CDBaby.com/bwebb (for Broken Folk) and CDBaby.com/bwebb2 (for LIVE). They treat the artists a lot better.
